Hillside Theater at Taliesin presents a special screening of Sunset Boulevard, the celebrated Billy Wilder drama that once played at Taliesin in 1951. The story follows a faded silent-film icon who pulls a struggling young screenwriter into her quest for a comeback, a collaboration strained by her consuming ego. Starring William Holden, Gloria Swanson, and Erich von Stroheim, the film is rated TV-PG, runs 110 minutes, and was released in 1950. Tickets are $10. Enjoy classic cars, hot rods, and other standout rides, along with burgers and live music. It is a friendly setting to catch up with friends, chat with fellow car lovers, and admire the vehicles on display. Proceeds support local Lions projects in the community.

A high-octane, two-day celebration of diesel power takes over the Richland County Fairgrounds in Richland Center, Wisconsin, bringing together dirt drags, dyno runs, truck and tractor pulls, roaring burnouts, polished show trucks, live music, and plenty of Midwest horsepower. The weekend builds to the Diesel Truck Tour Final, delivering a marquee finish for fans and competitors alike. Action includes the Diesel Truck Challenge class on the dyno, the Friday Night Lights Truck Show, and an evening of live music, followed by a full slate featuring a Show N Shine with a dedicated Girls Only Zone, feature-class truck pulls spanning Super Stock Gas, 2.6 Shootout, 3.0 Diesel Truck, and 2 Wheel Drive, a fan-accessible dyno and Burn Out Road, the Diesel Truck Challenge dirt drags as part of the tour finale, and truck show awards. Admission options include a $40 weekend pass or $30 per day, with kids 12 and under free in the grandstands. The format encourages attendees to disconnect, immerse themselves in the process, and explore the craft in a focused setting.

Learn the art and purpose of saving seeds with Kitchen Gardener Abbie Gale Lehman. The class explores seed saving in both cultivated beds and natural areas, with guidance on climate zones, plant taxonomy, life cycles, pollination, and propagation so you can choose and handle seeds confidently. You will look closely at seed anatomy, tell different seed types apart using knowledge of selective pollination, and consider the steps that carry seeds from harvest to germination. By the end, you will know how to gather, process, store, and even prepare certain seeds as food. Participants receive additional resources for continued learning and take home seeds from Taliesin. Tuition is $35. Instruction and seeds are included. The session may be canceled if fewer than seven people are registered one week in advance. Abbie grew up on a small farm in the Driftless, earned a degree in Geography and Environmental Science from UW-Platteville, and has worked in the farm-to-table movement both on the farm and in the kitchen. She is the Kitchen Gardener at Taliesin Preservation.

VIOLA SPORTSMEN'S CLUB hosts an annual open house with a fish fry. Nonmembers can see the facility, and members have a chance to connect with each other. The smelt fry returns, and perch, bluegill, pulled pork, and fries will be served. Lunch plates cost $15 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under.

The Diesel Dirt Drag Series brings Midwest diesel power to Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio with four stops and a season-long points chase. Competitors line up at Hub City Dirt Drags Spring Opener in Richland Center, Wisconsin, Southern Ohio Smoke Show in Georgetown, Ohio with no Pro class on that card, North Iowa Truck Fest in Rockwell, Iowa, and the Hub City Diesel Truck Challenge. Racers battle for cash, bragging rights, and a championship at the end of the series. Two classes keep the action close. Street Diesel features a $200 buy in, stock appearing or S300 turbo only, no injectables, full interior and complete body, and DOT approved tires up to 35 inches with no cuts or boggers. Hot Street carries a $200 buy in, allows a single S400 turbo or equivalent, prohibits injectables, requires a full interior and complete body, and uses DOT approved tires. All drivers must follow the full rulebook, wear DOT approved helmets, and run without passengers. Each stop includes bonus payouts of $1,000 for Street and $2,000 for Hot Street. The series championship pays per class, with $2,500 to first, $1,500 to second, and $1,000 to third, and payouts may grow with participation. Drivers can chase points across all four rounds or compete at a single track for a shot at the money and the title.

This introductory program welcomes first-time whitetail hunters to learn the essentials in a supportive, mentored setting at Viola Sportsmen’s Club. Each participant is paired with an experienced volunteer who teaches a required four-hour class, provides hands-on training at the firearm range, and guides the participant and a parent or guardian during an actual whitetail hunt. The curriculum covers safe firearm handling, hunting techniques and strategies, whitetail biology and habitat, and step-by-step field dressing and processing. The program is free. Participants must be at least 10 years old and must obtain a Wisconsin DNR customer number before the first activity. A prior hunter education certification is not required. Activities include a dedicated gun handling and range day, a classroom and range session, and the mentored hunt. All essential gear can be supplied if needed, including blaze orange clothing items such as hats, vests, jackets, and gloves, shooting sticks, binoculars, field dressing tools with a hunting knife, and hand and body warmers. If a participant does not have access to a suitable rifle and ammunition, a smaller caliber centerfire rifle can be provided by the club for use during the program, managed by the mentor and returned after the hunt. Deer harvested by participants are processed locally at no cost to the hunter. Donations are welcome to help purchase program supplies, and any rifles contributed are retained by the club.

Pianist and vocalist Ben Sidran leads the performance, drawing on more than five decades and 40 albums, including the Grammy-nominated Concert for Garcia Lorca. His sets weave swing, groove, and free-form reflection with wit and seasoned insight. He appears with Leo Sidran on drums and voice and John Christensen on bass.
