His work has appeared on America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent, and his performance on Penn & Teller: Fool Us earned recognition as a standout surprise for Penn. Garrard is also the author of two books for magicians, Out of My Hat: The Magic of David Garrard and Magic Moments. The second half of the program honors Harry Houdini on the 100th anniversary of his passing, featuring two of Houdini’s famed illusions along with a tribute to his wife, Bess. The show also includes a salute to the United States in recognition of the nation’s 250th birthday. This event welcomes audiences of all ages.

Sam Bush brings his pioneering blend of progressive bluegrass and newgrass to The Princess Theatre in Decatur, Alabama. A mandolinist, fiddler, vocalist, bandleader, and tireless innovator, he has spent more than five decades expanding the possibilities of acoustic music by weaving bluegrass with rock and roll, jazz improvisation, reggae rhythms, and long-form jams. Raised on a Kentucky cattle farm in a music-filled home, he earned early acclaim as a teenager, winning the junior division of the National Oldtime Fiddler’s Contest three times and recording an instrumental album while still in high school. His drive for a broader sound carried him from Bluegrass Alliance to forming New Grass Revival with Ebo Walker, Courtney Johnson, and Curtis Burch, a band that fused traditional instruments with adventurous arrangements and rock repertoire while touring with Leon Russell. After 18 years with New Grass Revival, he went on to collaborate with Emmylou Harris’ Nash Ramblers, Lyle Lovett, and Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. In the years since, he has released seven albums and a live DVD, built a reputation as one of acoustic music’s most joyful and influential performers, and become such a fixture at Telluride’s bluegrass festival that fans bestowed a royal nickname. His influence resonates through later generations, inspiring artists like Punch Brothers, Steep Canyon Rangers, Greensky Bluegrass, and many others who continue to draw from his fearless approach to tradition.

The 4th Annual HOGS for HOPE Poker Run brings riders to Natchez Trace Harley-Davidson in Tuscumbia, Alabama to raise awareness for breast cancer. Ben Chapman makes a tour stop at The Princess Theatre with music from his new album, Feet on Fire. After several relentless years writing for artists such as Hayes Carll, Brent Cobb, and Marcus King, making his first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry, and releasing three well-regarded records that mix country, funk, and honky-tonk, he poured a season of major personal changes into this project inspired by his marriage to fellow songwriter Meg McRee and the birth of their first child. The guitar-forward title track blends Pink Floyd–like ambience with the grit of Crazy Horse, while Out in the Country settles into an easy Southern groove and Missing You leans into classic, Stax-style soul. Guided in the studio by Grammy nominee Anderson East, known as both a songwriter and producer, this performance highlights an artist writing from the heart and stretching across his full range of influences.

Back Alley String Band brings its first Alabama performance to Champy’s Shoals in Muscle Shoals. The North Mississippi and Memphis based trio blends Old Time, bluegrass, jug band sounds, Irish traditional music, Hill Country blues, jazz, and more, performing a mix of covers and original songs. The group features Andy Ratliff on guitars, banjo, mandolin, and vocals, John Kilgore on guitars, ukulele, and vocals, and John Kveen on upright bass with vocals possible. Guest appearances may happen. Admission is free.

Ride in support of Dale Green as he continues recovery from cancer and a stroke. The group will depart from Natchez Trace Harley-Davidson and finish at Stagger Lee’s. The North Alabama Bottle & Advertising Show brings collectors and enthusiasts together at Underwood Petersville Community Center to explore bottles and advertising items.
