    Weekly clay classes for adults are offered in a six-session series at The Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art in Smiths Station, Alabama. A new class time has been added after the summer sessions reached capacity. Participants learn foundational pottery techniques through hand-building while designing and creating both decorative and functional pieces, then completing the process with glazing and firing. No prior experience is needed. Enrollment covers supplies, and clay, glazes, and kiln firing are provided. Early enrollment is recommended. The classes take place within a multidisciplinary cultural arts center that houses the studios and exhibit gallery of Sarah West and Michele West. With more than four decades of combined experience and a record of mentoring artists since the gallery opened in 2008, the setting offers an immersive educational studio environment.     Tuesday Ride and Grill

    Set out from the lower pavilion parking lot at Chewacla State Park-Alabama for an adult group trail ride designed for riders who are comfortable in a group setting. All skill levels are included, the pace and distance are shaped by the group, and no one is left behind. Helmets are required without exception. If one is forgotten, fellow riders often have a spare to lend. Night riding here is allowed by special permission, so riders are expected to follow the park’s rules. Chewacla State Park charges an entrance fee. Ages 12 to 61 are $4 per person. Children 4 to 11 are $2. Seniors 62 and older are $2. Children under 4 are free. Prior and current military with ID are free. All rides start and finish at the lower pavilion. Participants are encouraged to be members of CAMP to support local trail efforts. Membership is tax deductible and costs $39 per year.

    UFA Road to Auburn

    This mixed epee tournament features two divisions, D and under as well as open mixed epee. Check in for each event will close according to the posted schedule, and fencing will begin shortly after those times. All details are tentative and may change. The competition takes place at the Auburn University Recreation and Wellness Center. Free parking is available across from the facility or in the Coliseum lot to the south. Early arrivals will not be able to enter before the building opens. Participants pay a $20 registration fee plus $20 per event, with payment accepted in cash or through Venmo. Members of collegiate clubs that bring one or more scoring machine sets may receive a $5 discount on their registration fees. A and B rated fencers compete at no cost. Late registrations are subject to an additional $10 if space allows. A current USA Fencing membership is required for all competitors. Gloves and masks will be checked before fencing begins. A waiver is mandatory for every competitor and will be posted, including a version for those under 18. Competitors may be asked to sign it upon arrival.
