Enjoy a two day mystery quilting retreat at The Quilt Shop at Linda Marie’s featuring a new Hunter’s Star pattern by Deb Heatherly created exclusively for this shop using her Creative Grids Hunter’s Star Trim Tool. Across the retreat, participants receive five sequential clues that gradually reveal the design, with plenty of instruction, laughter, and prizes along the way. The finished quilt can also be made as a Quilt of Valor. Instruction focuses on using the Hunter’s Star Trim Tool with confidence, achieving consistent quarter inch seams, adding sashing for a polished layout, and navigating the fun of a mystery style project as each clue unfolds. By the end, participants will have a strong start on a striking Hunter’s Star quilt and techniques to make future star quilts more accurate. This experience suits confident beginners and quilters who enjoy surprise projects or want to improve accuracy and star construction in a social setting. Basic sewing machine knowledge is required. The retreat fee is $60 and includes lunch and snacks both days along with the five mystery clues available only at this retreat. Enrollment is limited to 12 students. Please bring a sewing machine with thread and bobbins, a rotary cutter with a self healing mat, scissors, and a marking pen or pencil. The Creative Grids Hunter’s Star Trim Tool is required. An iron and a wool pressing mat are recommended for pressing. Fabric kits curated with coordinated color combinations will be available for purchase, or participants can use fabric from their stash. By the end, you will leave with a solid foundation in precision piecing and the confidence to take on more detailed designs. The class is presented in two sessions. The first covers making half square triangles and cutting fabrics. The second focuses on assembling the quilt top and adding borders. Designed for intermediate quilters who are comfortable with accurate piecing and multi step construction, and for anyone who enjoys bold quilts with standout detail. Basic sewing machine knowledge is required. Bring a sewing machine and core notions such as thread, bobbins, pins, a marking pen or pencil, a ruler, and a Quilter’s Magic Wand. The second session covers binding with attention to those 60 degree corners. Basic sewing machine knowledge is required, and the class welcomes quilters who enjoy quick finishes, seasonal projects, and working with novelty fabrics. The fee is $40 per session, with space for up to 12 students. Please bring a sewing machine, thread, bobbins, pins, a rotary cutter, a small self healing cutting mat, and a fabric marking pen. The Creative Grids 60 degree Tiny Diamond ruler is required. Fabric needs include one half yard of a striped background for the triangles, one quarter yard for binding, and one half yard for backing. Pressing tools such as an iron and a wool pressing mat are recommended. Krista Moser designed this project and also created the required ruler, and the pattern is available for free.

A story-driven Commander event brings the Strixhaven world of Magic: The Gathering to life at Roll & Play. Players are grouped into pods of three to four for relaxed, casual games that use special Strixhaven party rules and set-themed play aids to keep everything lively and immersive. Entry is $10. Each participant receives a promo card and a booster pack, and the winner of each pod takes home an additional pack. The atmosphere is friendly and community centered, welcoming Commander enthusiasts, newcomers, and Magic fans looking for flavorful, memorable games.

Discover the Quiltworx method with a beginner friendly workshop featuring the Woven Ribbon Star pattern. The project offers a bold look without extra complexity and works well as a table topper, wall hanging, or baby quilt. Step by step instruction from Vida Anderson builds confidence with the process so participants understand how Quiltworx patterns fit together before taking on larger projects. Vida serves as the education coordinator at The Quilt Shop at Linda Marie’s, is a Quiltworx certified instructor and professional longarm quilter, and previously spent two years teaching with Gammill on the Quilting With Confidence tour. In class, students learn to cut and prepare foundation papers accurately, handle floating points for crisp results, use paper piecing templates with assurance, make sense of smart corners, and follow template and layout sheets without confusion, all while establishing a solid base for future Quiltworx work. This session suits beginners starting from the ground up, quilters aiming to improve precision with paper piecing, and anyone curious about Judy Niemeyer style quilting. Skill level is beginner. The class fee is $20, a pattern purchase is required, and an optional fabric kit is available for $89. Enrollment is limited to 10 students. Please bring a sewing machine in good working order, a rotary cutter, an Add A Quarter ruler, a fabric glue stick, a repositionable glue stick, 50 wt thread, snips, and a seam ripper. Recommended tools include an Acorn Pressing Pen and solution, a tracing wheel, and a Cutter Pillar light table.

The project is versatile, so you can keep it traditional or experiment with a completely different palette for a fresh take. Vida Anderson leads the session using the Quiltworx approach and introduces curved piecing in a way that keeps the learning process manageable. Participants learn foundation paper piecing with the Quiltworx method, practice curved piecing techniques, correctly cut and prepare foundation papers, create clean floating points, and gain confidence with paper piecing tools. The class welcomes beginners who want to try both paper piecing and curves, quilters aiming to strengthen their Quiltworx skills, and anyone ready to move beyond straight seams. The listed skill level is beginner.
