    See details

Beginner-friendly obedience training unfolds over six consecutive Saturdays in West Valley parks, starting in quieter locations and then moving to busier spots to build confidence and focus around distractions. Handlers and dogs work on everyday manners and reliable responses, including name recognition and recall, sit, watch, stand, down, off, stay with a release, come, and walking politely on a loose leash. Each week brings a recap email and a group text with detailed instructions and the next meeting location, keeping everyone prepared. The curriculum increases in difficulty as teams progress, and consistent at-home practice is expected. Requirements include pre-registration, proof of current vaccinations, and completion of a liability form. Participants receive a training packet and a complimentary treat training bag. Intermediate Obedience Dog Training Class

Dos Lagos Park, Glendale · verified Sep 11
    See details

Level up established manners with an intermediate obedience series designed for dogs that already respond well around distractions. Across six weeks of one-hour sessions, training builds week by week in real-world environments. Classes meet in high-traffic parks and public spaces throughout Phoenix’s West and Central Valley, beginning in quieter areas and progressing to busier spots, with Dos Lagos Park listed as the meeting location. The curriculum strengthens core cues at a distance using hand signals and verbal commands, develops loose-leash skills with Heel/Reel, pivots, and directional changes, and adds advanced positions such as Front, Middle, Behind, Back Up, Weave, Spin or Twirl, Orbit, and Touch. Teams practice impulse control and boundary work with Back, Place, and Wait, refine polite greetings with people and other dogs, complete long-lead recalls amid distractions, and learn leash safety protocols for group walking and obstacle-rich settings. Each class is one hour, and daily at-home practice of 30 to 45 minutes is recommended. To enroll, pre-registration is required along with proof of Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccinations, and a signed liability form. A training packet is provided, plus a free treat training bag, and purchasing one class includes attendance at a second full class for free. Dogs must be able to work around other dogs and people without excessive reactivity. The course fee is $250, with an option to split payment, half before and half at the end of the course.

    Advanced Obedience Dog Training

Alta Vista Park, 10631 W Williams Rd, Peoria · verified Sep 11
    See details

Take your dog’s skills beyond the basics with a structured, advanced obedience series at Alta Vista Park. Designed for teams that have already completed Beginner and Intermediate Obedience and can work reliably in new settings, this course focuses on precision, consistency, and real world control in outdoor environments. Training is force free and built on positive reinforcement, with clear progressions, clean mechanics, and upbeat pattern work to keep learning engaging. Dogs practice refined heeling with smooth turns, crisp halts, pace changes, figure eights, and sustained attention. Handlers develop light, effective leash communication that maintains connection without pressure. Short, rally inspired sequences bring together pivots, fronts, finishes, and fluid transitions. Distance response grows stronger as sit, down, and stand cues are reinforced for single cue reliability. Safety is emphasized with an emergency stop on recall, and impulse control is strengthened through food alley heeling, calm pass bys with people and dogs, and focused work amid outdoor distractions. Polished positions and simple behavior chains support goals toward Rally and Novice level obedience. A field session helps generalize skills in public spaces with varied surfaces and visual challenges. This class suits teams looking to advance beyond everyday manners, prepare for Rally or future Novice competition, improve distance control, sharpen heel precision and handler mechanics, maintain performance when distractions increase, and deepen engagement and teamwork. Bring a six foot, non retractable leash, high value rewards, water, a treat pouch, and your training essentials, along with a ready to work attitude. Enrollment is limited to allow personalized coaching and safe spacing outdoors. The program runs for six weeks with one hour sessions. The cost is $250, with an option to split into two payments.

It is not an off-leash playgroup or a casual dog park meetup. Dogs remain on leash and under handler control the entire time, and retractable leashes, off-leash greetings, and unsupervised dog-to-dog interactions are not permitted. Participants should bring a standard 6-foot leash, high-value treats, water, clean-up bags, and comfortable walking shoes. Dogs are expected to be sociable, manageable on leash, and able to work near people and other dogs with guidance from their handlers. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Spots can be confirmed through the website registration form, by marking Going on the Facebook event, or by texting FurBabies & Friends. Each walk requires at least four confirmed handler and dog teams to proceed. If the minimum is not met 24 hours in advance, the walk will be canceled and those who have confirmed will receive a notification.
