ANDREW STANLEY @ TEMPE IMPROV

Andrew Stanley brings his dry, observational stand up to Tempe Improv. A homeschooled preacher’s kid with a finance degree, he walked away from a budget analyst role with health insurance to chase the mic and has since performed in clubs, theaters, and arenas around the country. After his 2019 selection for the Just For Laughs New Faces showcase, he went on to feature for well known comedians including Nate Bargatze, Jeff Foxworthy, Colin Jost, Leanne Morgan, Kathleen Madigan, Marc Maron, John Crist, and David Spade, and he has opened for Nate Bargatze at the Phoenix Arena. Highlights continue to stack up, from appearing on the first season of The Showcase on Nateland in 2023, to selling out three hometown shows at the Buckhead Theatre in early 2025 to tape his debut hour planned for release later in the year, to making his Grand Ole Opry debut during the Nashville Comedy Festival in April 2025 before an audience of over 4,000. His material is clean and rooted in dry, observational humor.

Shamanic Breathwork and Hapé Ceremony with Sound Healing

Experience a ceremonial afternoon in Tempe centered on shamanic breathwork, a hapé offering, and immersive sound healing. Guided by Colter, Andrea and Nesly, the gathering is intended to offer the community alternative pathways for activating and connecting with the higher self. The breathwork uses conscious, connected breathing to engage the vagus nerve and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body shift from fight or flight toward rest, digestion and regeneration. This approach is presented as a way to settle mental and emotional triggers, support nervous system rewiring, restore balance, and potentially awaken naturally generated energy often associated with the pineal gland. Hapé, an Amazonian sacred medicine crafted from various medicinal plants, is shared to complement the breathwork. Different blends are used for intentions such as insight, vitality, grounding and heightened perception. The medicine is described as carrying the spirit of the rainforest, with the application likened to the wind of the forest. The breathwork journey, referred to as a Breath of Life Activation, is designed for those seeking a deeper level of consciousness, whether to work through life challenges, engage a potent healing process, or simply feel uplifted. Live sound accompanies the experience, with instruments such as drums, a gong, shakers and bowls, along with facilitator support and emotive music, creating a richly internal and extrasensory voyage. Organizers describe potential benefits that include clearer access to the deeper mind and tools to reprogram it, a noticeable easing of fear and tension, more natural and honest relationships, a renewed trust in oneself and life, increased self esteem, possible relief from psychosomatic patterns, recognition and softening of resistance to the positive, practical steps on the path of self realization, a conscious connection with higher aspects of being, the opportunity to release and feel renewed, and a sense of connection to Universal Source. The cost is $55. Payment options include PayPal or Zelle at coltersmith30@gmail.com, Venmo at @colter-smith-2, cash at the door, or purchasing through Eventbrite.

GO KARTS with GRZ

With outdoor track days on hold due to the heat, this casual go-kart gathering moves the action indoors at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games Chandler. Expect spirited driving and friendly rivalry, including overtakes and playful antics typical of karting. There is no advance reservation; racers will register on arrival. The venue has previously allowed use of a 10‑race package that can be shared among multiple participants for a better per-person rate. Arriving early helps secure that option and increases the chance of being grouped in the same heat, as races can fill quickly. Pricing shared by the organizer is approximate and not guaranteed, with past outings totaling around $100 or about $65 for three races. Families are welcome, and younger drivers may share the track with adults. There is usually a wait between check-in and getting on track, and during that time guests can grab food or drinks, play in the arcade, try mini bowling, and hang out. The organizer is also exploring a possible ride-in and maybe a stop for ice cream afterward.

2nd Annual Sleep out Kickoff Reception

Culdesac in Tempe hosts a kickoff reception launching the second annual Sleep Out in support of the Homeless ID Project. Community leaders, local businesses, advocates, and supporters come together to spotlight an often overlooked barrier to ending homelessness, the lack of identification, while raising vital funds to address it. The program explores how an ID can open access to employment, housing, healthcare, treatment, and other essential services. Many people experiencing homelessness are working to regain stability, yet without identification the path forward can feel blocked, limiting opportunities and support. Attendees hear stories of lives changed when identification is secured and learn practical ways to help more neighbors take that crucial first step. The reception sets the tone for a one night, community-focused effort that advances progress toward ending homelessness.
