Dive into warm, clear water in San Carlos, Sonora with a multi day getaway centered on the rich marine life of the Sea of Cortez, often called the world’s aquarium for its biodiversity. Encounters may include vibrant tropical fish, curious sea lions, graceful manta rays, seasonal whale sharks, and occasional sightings of dolphins or humpback whales. Travel is planned as a caravan from Sun City, Arizona to the Nogales border crossing, typically continuing through Santa Ana and Hermosillo before reaching the Guaymas and San Carlos area, with the drive taking about eight hours. Weather permitting, the plan features up to eight daytime dives across three days, including island sites and a local wreck, with an optional night dive available for $100. Lodging is at Marina Terra Hotel at the Marina for five days and four nights, conveniently located less than a mile from the marina and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The package is $960 per person based on double occupancy and includes three dives on each of the first two days, two local dives on the third morning, lunch and snacks on board, air cylinders and weights, and hotel taxes.
