Trained intensively by his father, Padmabhushan Pandit Nikhil Ghosh, with additional guidance from Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirakwa and a family lineage that includes pioneer flautist Pandit Pannalal Ghosh, he is celebrated for artistic depth, a rich repertoire, and a refined, traditional tabla style. He has collaborated with luminaries including Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, Ustad Munnawar Ali Khan, and Ustad Rais Khan, has recorded for labels in India and abroad, and received an Achievement Award in California for promoting Indian music in the West. Ishaan Ghosh emerged as a child prodigy, giving his first tabla solo at the age of three. Under the tutelage of his father, he has developed a compelling solo voice and a sensitive approach to accompaniment, earning recognition from musicians and connoisseurs. His performances include appearances with leading figures across the Indian classical spectrum, and he continues to broaden his artistry through creative collaborations with international musicians and talks at platforms such as TEDx. He has also performed for a Habitat for Humanity project in Atlanta, where he was felicitated by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
