Visiting from Buenos Aires, Anahí leads beginning and intermediate Argentine tango classes at La Bruja in Berkeley, offering energetic training that focuses on social dance figures and clear lead and follow communication. Instruction uses leader and follower roles in an inclusive setting that welcomes queer, trans, and non-binary dancers, and participants are encouraged to try both roles. The beginner class is open to complete newcomers. The intermediate session is designed for dancers with roughly three months of experience or about a dozen classes, and beginners are welcome to observe. Practice periods are included with the classes, with time to dance together and ask questions, and there is a shared practice time for all levels between the two classes. Sessions are planned for the ballroom, although the room assignment could change. Single-class pricing is $25 for general admission and $15 for students with ID. It is $40 for one person to take both classes on the same night. Payment is accepted in cash or via Venmo at the door. Anahí Carballo is an Argentine tango and folklore teacher, choreographer, and director with more than two decades of international experience. She founded Estudio Tango Cuir, directed the all-female Compañia Tango Entre Mujeres for a decade, and is a professor at the National University of the Arts. Her achievements include a Provincial Malambo Championship and a semifinalist placement at the World Tango Championship. She created Vinculadas and Otro modo and co-created Nuestra historia. FloLab - $300 Weekly Rap Contest and Cypher

They went on to release three studio albums along with several singles collections through the 1980s and 1990s. The second album, "Give Me Power", reached the top of the CMJ reggae chart in 1980, and "Rasta Philosophy" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. The band has toured throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States, and a new release titled "Let Them Talk" is planned for later this year. The bill features Donny Rasta and JAHBUDDA! Band, with more local reggae artists and DJs to be announced. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the show. Students can purchase a $20 ticket at the door with a valid student ID. At Spire Church in Oakland, Keri leads group mat Pilates classes that use props to build mobility, stability, strength and release. All experience levels and all bodies are welcome, with personalized modifications or extra challenges available as needed. Props offer support or added difficulty depending on the focus, enhance proprioception, encourage closed chain movement and introduce measured instability so deeper stabilizing muscles are engaged rather than just the big movers. The goal is to help participants understand their bodies, deepen a movement practice, spot imbalances and retrain patterns toward healthier, more mobile and efficient movement. It is demanding work, and it is also a lot of fun. Keri is a comprehensively trained Balanced Body instructor who works at EHS Legacy Studio in San Francisco and also offers private sessions in Oakland. She is trained on the Springboard and the CoreAlign, and she is a foot, gait and motor sensory training apprentice under Nancy Myers, with ongoing continuing education with master instructors including Briggit Brunner and Monique Convertito. Sliding scale pricing is 10 to 20 dollars with a 15 dollar suggested donation, and no one is turned away for lack of funds. Donations can be made at the door via Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, and presales are available. The venue is in a residential neighborhood. Respect for neighbors is essential, and disregard for the community may lead to exclusion from this and future classes. Parking is limited near the space, so consider biking, carpooling, walking, rideshare or public transit, and if driving is necessary, plan to park a bit farther away to leave closer spots for local residents, including elderly and disabled neighbors.

With the upcoming album Waves, the group enters a more intimate phase, focusing on themes of grief, healing, resilience, and self-worth while stepping away from the love songs that once dominated their catalog. Hand mudras, chanting, thoughtfully chosen readings, and music shape the atmosphere. Anne-René is a dance artist, an Alexander Technique teacher, and the artistic director of Sculpted Motion. She began studying yoga in New York City in the 1990s and earned a Vinyasa teaching certification from the White Lotus Foundation in 2008. Her teaching is informed by mentors and places including Ty Landrum, Sara Baird, Erin Dudley, Keith Borden, Cindi Lee's Om Yoga Center, Laughing Lotus Yoga, and the anatomical work of Irene Dowd and Leslie Kaminoff. Additional influences include Krishnamurti, Ram Das, Kundalini yoga, Gaga, and Gyrotonic. She finds inspiration in the sky, sunlight, the night, trees, the grace of animals, poetry, the resilience of the human spirit, and kind words from friends, and views herself as a work in progress moving toward a sense of fullness and flow.
