Kids ages 6 to 8 can learn sewing in San Jose at Diana’s Rhythmic Club, building focus and confidence while creating projects they can be proud of. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced learners, and the small group format offers more personal attention. Each class uses guided, step by step projects in a supportive, creative setting. Tuition is $240 per month, and Ocean Grove Charter funds are accepted. Space is limited.

The Music on the Hill Summer Series wraps up with a season finale featuring Lyin Eyes Band performing favorites from the Eagles. This outdoor concert unfolds at Santa Teresa Golf Club on the hill, offering panoramic views of the golf course and garden settings. The gazebo provides a picturesque spot for sunset photos. Bars will serve ice cold beverages, and a range of food will be available for purchase, including smoked tri tip sandwiches while supplies last, burgers, hot dogs, and a crisp salad with grilled chicken. Outside food or drinks are not allowed. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs. Admission is free.

Turn a favorite pet photo into a unique acrylic portrait in a bright pop art style inspired by Andy Warhol. This approachable workshop at Pup Plaza welcomes beginners and provides step-by-step guidance from start to finish. The session opens with a brief primer on using three types of brushes, then moves through each stage, from transferring a photo of your pet to canvas with graphite, to painting the background, to building the main features, and finally adding finishing touches. Bold, nontoxic acrylics are used, and all materials are supplied. To prepare, participants are asked to send a high-resolution digital photo of their pet in advance. Uncropped full-body images or clear face shots with simple backgrounds and strong contrast work best. Questions about selecting a photo can be sent to pandamai@pmbq.com for guidance. Instruction is led by Phuong-Mai “Mai” Blasich, founder artist of PMBQ Studios in San Jose. Mai began her career in 1993 as a comic artist on Ninja High School with Antarctic Press, later collaborated with Marvel Comics and Dark Horse Comics, and self-published the action-comedy series Tea Club. Her public murals appear in downtown San Jose, including at the First Street Panda Cafe & Bakery, as well as at Pup Plaza. Her artwork highlights cheerful animal characters in everyday moments, encouraging appreciation of life’s simple joys. The workshop takes place indoors at Pup Plaza, is limited to 12 participants, and costs $45.
