2026 Art of Inclusion Art Exhibition
At De Saisset Museum, Art of Inclusion brings together adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and student artists in a collaborative exhibition that centers on creativity, color, and belonging. Now in its fourth year, the project connects people from many backgrounds through shared art-making and a focus on inclusion. The showcase features work created in partnership with clients of Life Services Alternatives and students from San Jose State University, with instruction provided by the San Jose Museum of Art. Prints of the featured pieces will be available for purchase. The gathering honors the often underserved community of people with developmental disabilities and highlights the unifying power of art during a time that calls for connection and togetherness. Life Services Alternatives may photograph or record the event and use images or video in its publications and media. Los Yesterdays sets the tone with New Chicano Soul, followed by Malo, a cornerstone of Chicano soul celebrated for Suavecito, which was recorded on the Peninsula. WAR, formed in Long Beach, first teamed with former Animals frontman Eric Burdon in 1970 under producer Jerry Goldstein, a collaboration that delivered the worldwide number one Spill the Wine. The band soon struck out on its own, weaving R&B, rock, Latin music, jazz, and blues into a signature sound. By 1973, The World is a Ghetto had reached the top of both Billboard’s pop and R&B charts on the strength of two top ten singles, the title track and The Cisco Kid. Across decades, WAR has amassed more than 20 multi platinum, platinum, and gold releases, including favorites like Low Rider, Why Can’t We Be Friends, and All Day Music. The routes highlight local favorites, from shaded singletrack near Tony Look to wide views along Coyote Ridge. It offers a welcoming entry point for road runners taking on trails, while still delivering a real test for seasoned trail and ultrarunners. The half marathon includes several steep climbs, and aid stations are placed along the course to support participants. The race is sanctioned by USATF, follows Trail Sisters race standards, and its half marathon is one of four included in the USATF Mountain, Ultra, Trail Grand Prix. All finishers in the Half Marathon and 11K can receive finisher items, including custom race socks. Registration for the Lollipop Loop charity run or walk and the children’s race takes place on the day of the event. Participation in the Half Marathon and 11K is limited to a total of 150 runners. Pups get the pool to themselves at BlackBerry Farm Swimming Pool during a special splash day featuring four 45-minute swim sessions. Advance registration is required, and space tends to fill quickly. Pricing is per dog, with a resident rate of $10 and a non-resident rate of $13. Each handler may bring up to two dogs. People are not permitted in the water. Dogs that display aggression will be asked to leave and will not receive a refund. Owners may not physically force their dogs into the water, and all dogs must be current on vaccinations. Lifeguards will be on duty, and all swimming is at the owner’s risk.
