This weekend in South Bay LA, CA

The Barony of Lyondemere hosts the Kingdom Rapier Championship at Calle Mayor Middle School, turning the field into an Inferno-inspired arena where skill and staying power are pushed to the limit. Competitors move through a round robin that rotates fighting styles in sequence: single sword, sword and buckler, sword and baton, sword and dagger, and Case, then cycles back to the start if more rounds are needed. The top two from the round robin advance to the semifinals and may choose whichever style they prefer. A separate Cut & Thrust tournament will also run as a round robin and will not follow the Inferno format. The day features both an opening court and a closing court. Registration is $25 for adults, or $15 with an adult member discount when presenting proof of membership. Youth ages 16 and under are guests of the Barony. Payment can be made in cash or by check payable to SCA, Inc./Barony of Lyondemere. Onsite parking is available. Pavilions and day shades are welcome, and stakes may be used. An adoption fair at the rescue facility offers a warm opportunity to meet dogs ready for their forever homes.
