Tri-Valley Dive Club has organized a friendly campout and diving adventure at Lake Tahoe that welcomes both divers and non-divers. Activities focus on Meeks Bay, with two dives planned there and a light group lunch between them. A short PADI Altitude Diver course is available for those who are not yet altitude certified, combining one classroom session with two training dives in the lake. Divers who already hold altitude certification can buddy up and dive. Campsites have been set aside at Kaspian Campground for those who want to camp, and hotels in Tahoe City offer an option for non-campers. Camping costs $40 per camper, plus a parking fee paid at the campground. The altitude course pricing includes a $111 course fee and a $200 instructor fee. A potluck campfire dinner brings everyone together one evening, and some meals are on your own. The plan wraps up with a nearby lunch stop to allow time for post-altitude off-gassing, with further details covered in the altitude class. Spots are limited. Eight teams will compete across 12 games each day, creating a packed schedule of derby excitement from morning through evening. Beyond the track, attendees can explore local vendors and enjoy a lively community atmosphere. Participating teams include Outlaws Roller Derby and Inland Empire, with more regional contenders rounding out the lineup for a nonstop showcase of skill and grit.

Himmel Haus expands its annual Oktoberfest into a multi-week series with four themed gatherings. Families can start with Kinderfest, offering kid-focused fun like a bouncy house, sweet treats, face painting, and awards for standout costumes. A new Sunday program adds live polka from Alpine Sound alongside a playful, human-sized foosball tournament on the patio with cash prizes and no entry fee. This is the first in a series of at least three pre-rally rides. The ride sets off from the Golden Nugget hotel and casino in Stateline, Nevada at South Lake Tahoe, then follows the lake’s eastern shoreline to Mount Rose Highway. From there, it continues along Geiger Grade into historic Virginia City for lunch and time to wander downtown. The route moves on to Carson City and then to Genoa for a short visit, before cruising along the scenic Foothill Road and over Kingsbury Grade to finish back at the Golden Nugget.

This second pre-rally ride departs from the Golden Nugget in Stateline in South Lake Tahoe and follows a loop through the Sierra Nevada into California’s Gold Country. The route heads out on U.S. Highway 50 to State Route 89, then continues along scenic Route 88 toward Sutter Creek, with a stop for lunch and time to explore this Gold Rush town. Next, the ride follows historic State Route 49 to Placerville, also known as Hangtown, with another break to look around. The return leg traces U.S. 50 back to Lake Tahoe.

The third pre rally motorcycle ride sets out from Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe in Stateline and climbs Kingsbury Grade into Carson Valley. The route continues along scenic 395 on the eastern side of the Sierra, then takes the June Lake Loop for a lunch stop and plenty of photo opportunities. The return heads north on 395, connects with State Route 88 for a ride through Hope Valley, and finishes back at Lake Tahoe. Expect wide open mountain views and alpine scenery throughout, and a camera will come in handy.
