Head to Central Park for a summer night of live music in the “Concerts in the Park” series featuring Woodie & The Longboards. Admission is free, and you can enjoy the show with the food trucks on site, or bring your own picnic and blankets and lawn chairs. Expect a fun mix of pop music from the 50s through the 80s.

Bring your imagination to the library for an in-person art session where kids (ages 5 to 12, with a caregiver) will make their own DIY pencil pouch. The activity focuses on designing a one-of-a-kind pouch they can use for school. Registration is required.

Join this in-person storytime designed to help kids get ready for school. You’ll enjoy stories along with songs, rhymes, and movement, with activities aimed at building early learning skills. This program is for ages 2 to 5 and is for kids to attend with a parent or caregiver.
South Whittier Library🥕 Free Fresh Produce Distribution 🥕
Stop by for a free fresh produce distribution. This is a walk-up event, with produce handed out in the parking lot behind the Whittier Health Center. Supplies are available starting in the morning, and distribution continues only as long as supplies last.
Whittier Public Health CenterConcert in the Park – Y2K2K!
Enjoy a free outdoor concert as part of the Concerts in the Park series, featuring live music from the band Y2K2K. The event runs in the evening and will include a mix of 90's and 2000's pop, plus local food trucks so you can grab dinner before or during the show. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and make it a fun night of music and community.

Heritage ParkBattle Royale @ CrossFit Whittier
Battle Royale @ CrossFit Whittier is an on-site team competition featuring two different workout events. Event 1 is a timed For Time challenge with a 16:00 time cap. The workout includes several rounds of tethered running, calorie work on an Echo Bike and rower done simultaneously, and finishing with alternating dumbbell snatches. Teams are scored based on time completed, with penalties added if reps or calories aren’t finished within the cap.
CrossFit WhittierBack to School: Storytime and Art Activity
Get ready for the school year with a fun in-person storytime and art activity. You’ll learn about library resources to help make school less stressful, including Brainfuse and other databases, and then you’ll decorate a notebook, highlighter, and pencil pouch. This program is for ages 5 to 12, and participants will receive school supplies generously donated by the Friends of the Sorensen Library. Advance registration is required and seating is limited.
