The BYS End Of Summer Showdown is a 2-day youth basketball tournament for boys and girls in 3rd grade through varsity. Teams will play a 4-game guarantee, with free parking and media on site. There will be rings awarded for 1st place, and power rankings will be part of the event. Entry fees range from $225 to $267 depending on the team.

Join the AGC Candle Making Class at the La Habra Community Center to learn how to blend the perfect candle scent and get hands-on experience pouring and creating your own scented candles. Classes run on Saturdays. There is an $18 materials fee payable to the instructor at the first-class meeting.

A CSHA rated Gymkhana in Region 12 offers a full slate of speed events and multiple competition levels. Divisions include 1 through 6, plus Division 7 split into Junior and Senior, with an Open option that does not carry a state rating. Juniors are 13 and under, and Seniors are 14 and over. Rated classes feature Birangle, Big T, Skill Barrels, and Cloverleaf, with Figure 8 available as an extra event. For all events, FRR members pay $45 with early registration or $60 if submitted after the Wednesday prior to the show. Non‑members pay $55 with early registration or $65 after the Wednesday deadline. Additional options include Time Only runs at $5 per run for horses already entered. Single event entries are $15 per event plus a $10 grounds fee. Lead Line offers three events at $7 per event plus a $10 grounds fee. A mandatory state rating fee of $2 applies per horse and rider combination, excluding Lead Line and Single Event entries, and a mandatory $10 grounds fee applies per horse and rider combination, excluding Time Only. Online registration with payment is available and includes a 3 percent convenience fee. Early registration means both entry and payment are submitted by the Wednesday prior to the show, and entries received after that will be charged the higher rate. A Rider Participation Waiver and Hold Harmless Agreement is required before competing and is completed once per season. Battle Royale @ CrossFit Whittier is an on-site team competition featuring two different workout events. Event 1 is a timed For Time challenge with a 16:00 time cap. The workout includes several rounds of tethered running, calorie work on an Echo Bike and rower done simultaneously, and finishing with alternating dumbbell snatches. Teams are scored based on time completed, with penalties added if reps or calories aren’t finished within the cap.

Settle in for a no frills, 10 hour crafting session at Church of the Redeemer. Seating is shared, with large round tables accommodating up to three people and rectangular tables accommodating up to two. Bring your favorite project and a craft mat to protect the tables and linens. If you do not have a mat, one can be provided upon request. Please avoid oversized wagons to reduce trip hazards. If you need power, choose a spot along the walls or at tables with an extension cord reel. Wi-Fi is available, though it may slow when many people are connected. Potluck dishes are welcome but optional, and a sign up list will appear in the event discussion. At the end of the day, please take home or discard any leftover food to help with cleanup. Laughs Without Borders is a comedy night with a mission to help families with immigration visa application costs. Enjoy a rotating lineup of comedians, hosted by KhoolAid, with music by DJ Greg C. It’s an in-person event where all net proceeds are donated to individuals and families to help ease legal costs related to immigration visa processes. Note that the show is strictly for ages 21 and up, and doors open at 6:30 PM.
