At Chautauqua Auditorium, the Silent Film Series 2026 presents The Winning of Barbara Worth, a 1926 silent epic with live musical accompaniment by Rodney Sauer. This century-old series continues with the story of Barbara Worth, an orphan raised by a visionary engineer determined to bring water to California’s Imperial Valley. As a massive irrigation project reshapes the desert, she is drawn between two very different men while conflicts build around the undertaking. The film showcases sweeping Western vistas, a romantic storyline, and extensive flood sequences, and it is recognized for its ambitious scale and for marking Gary Cooper’s breakthrough on screen. Sound healer Maria Pertile guides a restorative meditation and sound bath at the Atma Buti Sound and Vibrational School, featuring the resonant tones of Himalayan singing bowls along with gongs, bells, and other instruments.
