July Sanctuary Sunsets Evening Tour

As daylight softens and the pastures glow, Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary offers an evening tour that moves with the rhythm of the residents. More than twenty species become active as the heat fades, creating a quiet window into their routines and the connections they share. Guests will walk through the sanctuary during golden hour, meet animals in their own spaces, observe how they relate to one another, and be present for the gentle close of the day as gates are secured, hay is set out for the night, and birds settle onto their roosts. Alpine Eatery will be onsite with dinner and beverages available for purchase, so the visit can become a full night out with friends or a meaningful pause in a busy season. To support the animals’ wellbeing, outside food or drinks are not permitted for people or animals, and companion animals are not allowed on the property or left in vehicles. Every attendee needs a ticket, regardless of age. Tickets are nonrefundable except when severe weather cancels the event. Please plan to arrive on time since hours cannot be extended, and note that any available food and drinks are sold separately. This is a sanctuary for animals rescued from abuse, neglect, slaughter, and exploitation. It is not a petting zoo. The residents are individuals with their own preferences, so move gently, let them choose the level of interaction, and respect their boundaries. Many are seniors, recovering, or living with chronic conditions, and their care follows long term plans with veterinary guidance. Whether it is a first visit or a return, this sunset experience offers a rare and thoughtful way to watch the day end in a place built on second chances.

Patty Jackson

Patty Jackson brings a warm blend of folk, rock, and country with a touch of jazz to the stage, moving from delicate fingerstyle guitar to the sweet shimmer of a ukulele and the funky punch of a mint green baritone guitar. Born in central New York, a pair of Joan Baez tickets at age 15 set her on a musical path that led from early bar gigs to the college circuit, folk clubs, and coffeehouses throughout New England and New York with her band Wildfire, including a performance for Hillary Clinton during her campaign for the U.S. Senate from New York. After relocating to Colorado in 2004, she joined Resonance, The Women’s Chorus of Boulder, where she met bandmates and formed a new group. Sound Bath

Melissa leads a soothing sound bath centered on Himalayan singing bowls, offering an immersive experience in vibration and tone. The session presents the idea that imbalance in the body can reflect disharmony, and that shifting vibration may influence how we feel. Gentle, resonant sounds encourage the brain toward theta wave patterns, foster deep, peaceful meditation, and help quiet self-critical inner talk. The harmonics support mental clarity and intuitive insight, invite the body’s relaxation response, and may soften stress and discomfort. As the tones wash through the space, the mind and body are guided toward stillness and a stronger awareness of the mind body connection, leaving many feeling calm, refreshed, and renewed.

Foundations Bootcamp

Build a reliable partnership by focusing on the essentials that make training clear, purposeful, and sustainable. This immersive horsemanship clinic strengthens the fundamentals that support everything from a horse’s earliest rides to more advanced work. It meets you where you are, whether you want to restart your education, refine the basics, or put your understanding on solid ground, then expands your skills from there. Across the program, the emphasis is on developing you as a rider and horseman. Expect structured learning, practical take-home tools, and exercises that add adaptable options to your toolbox so you can troubleshoot and progress with confidence at home. Instruction weaves together in-depth lectures, groundwork that sharpens communication and body awareness, focused riding sessions, guidance on tack and equipment choices, rider position and aid clarity, and a thoughtful training progression aimed at long-term development. Rather than memorizing drills, you will explore the principles behind them, including how and why approaches work for the horse biomechanically and mentally. The result is more precise, intentional, and effective riding. Designed for beginner to intermediate riders, this clinic is taught by Cody and Daniel. Rider spots are limited to 10. Undivided (Matinee)

Opening the DPO’s new season, this program unites music across places, eras, and creative styles to show how many voices can speak as one. At its heart is the world premiere of John Heins’ Garden of the Gods, created in recognition of the United States’ 250th year and Colorado’s 150th year of statehood, a reminder that the shared story continues to unfold. The concert also includes Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, Valerie Coleman’s Umoja, Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman, and Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Framed by a symphonic meditation on the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the lively pulse associated with John Adams at his most playful, the program salutes what can be built together through music.
