    Dyeing Workshop

Fort Collins · Lamms End Studio, 3001 Colt Ct

Explore color on wool in a hands-on workshop led by instructor Christine Schneider. Participants will learn three different ways to dye roving and practical techniques to prevent felting. Each person will dye one pound of roving, enough to spin yarn for a vest or a small sweater. All essentials are provided by the instructor or West Wind Fibers, including dyes with necessary auxiliaries, printed guidance, and the fiber itself. The workshop fee is $125, with a $35 materials fee. Enrollment is limited to eight participants, and at least five registrations are required for the workshop to proceed. Early registration is encouraged. About the instructor: Christine has been immersed in fiber arts since childhood. She taught herself to knit in sixth grade, discovered weaving at camp in eighth grade, and in high school learned to spin while further developing her weaving skills. Largely self-taught, she has long experimented with color and technique, beginning to dye wool for her own sweaters around 1978 and continuing to refine her process. She plans projects first, then tailors dye methods to match her vision, and sees experimentation as central to growth and the joy of working with color.

Reviews typically take about one to two business days, and an approved application is required to interact with animals at the event.
