For decades, The Mercury Cafe nurtured a beloved Denver ritual where live jazz and spoken word filled one room with creativity, community, and a special kind of magic. As the historic building closes its doors, The Karma House helps carry that story forward with an evening that blends the city’s jazz and poetry traditions. The night starts with an open jam for jazz musicians, spotlighting improvisation, collaboration, and soulful interplay. Afterward, the microphone shifts to poets, welcoming both longtime voices from Denver’s scene and newcomers sharing their words for the first time. This is not a typical open mic. It continues a cultural thread that has woven through Denver for more than three decades, creating a place where art, music, vulnerability, resistance, storytelling, and community meet in real time. The gathering offers heartfelt poetry, moody jazz energy, surprising collaborations, laughter, heartbreak, fire, tenderness, experimentation, and moments that affirm why spaces like this matter. The Karma House is a community-centered kava bar and gathering space in Lakewood with a focus on connection, creativity, healing, and belonging. It serves kava, a traditional plant beverage from the Pacific Islands shared ceremonially and socially for generations, and honors the Indigenous Pacific Island communities who have stewarded these traditions.

Enjoy an easygoing night of music and movement at a social dance party designed for both newcomers and seasoned dancers. Expect a blend of ballroom, Latin, and social styles, a variety of music, friendly partners, and plenty of time to practice on the floor. Instructors will be available to offer guidance, encouragement, and keep the energy high. It is a welcoming way to meet new people, build confidence, and dance without needing a partner. Admission is free for clients actively enrolled in a package of private dance lessons or for those who attend the group class. If not enrolled in a private lesson package, admission is $20.

Lucky Hour makes its debut at Old 121 Brewhouse's Oak Street spot in Lakewood. The performance takes place at the brewery, which serves beer and has a dedicated pizza food truck on site.
