The work’s enduring questions echo today, engaging themes of bodily autonomy, reproductive rights, gender expectations, and personal freedom. Blending expressionist storytelling with modern imagery, the production explores isolation, technology, and the social forces that mold everyday life. Through a partnership with The Table Urban Farm, a Denver nonprofit focused on locally grown food and community connection, the company extends its focus on meaningful dialogue and neighborhood ties. Miscreant Theater Collective is committed to accessibility, with accommodations and Pay-What-You-Can options available through the company so financial barriers do not prevent participation.

Hiss Golden Messenger brings the I’m People Tour to The Ogden Theatre with the warm, free-spirited energy of Jump for Joy, the band’s most recent album from songwriter M.C. Taylor. Written in short bursts while touring heavily, the record carries the movement and spark of a live show and shifts from the inward tone of Quietly Blowing It to a more open, outward gaze. Recorded during a two-week stay at Sonic Ranch outside El Paso with guitarist Chris Boerner, bassist Alex Bingham, drummer Nick Falk, and keyboardist Sam Fribush, the music feels expansive and uplifting, like friends reconnecting after a hard season. Tracks such as “Shinbone” revel in newfound lightness while pondering life’s big gambles, “Nu-Grape” reflects on the fleeting nature of what we create, and “The Wondering,” inspired by a question from Anaïs Mitchell and featuring Eric D. Johnson of Fruit Bats on the chorus, celebrates curiosity and the power of still being here. Admission is for ages 16 and over.
