The Room at Cedar Grove, 32882 Cedar Grove Rd, Lewes · verified Sep 27
    See details

The Dirty Grass Players return to The Room at Cedar Grove for a dinner-and-concert experience. A $61 ticket includes the meal and the performance, with beverages available for purchase separately. Gratuity is not included, and all ticket sales are final. Hailing from Baltimore and active since 2015, this bluegrass group blends tradition with forward-looking energy. They move easily from extended improvisations to quick-fire classics, delivering tight harmonies, fresh original tunes, and adventurous solos that balance polish with a bit of grit. The band began with informal jams between founders Ben Kolakowski on guitar and Ryan Rogers on mandolin, quickly earning attention at home before taking their sound across the United States and Europe. Their festival history includes Grey Fox, DelFest, Dark Star Jubilee, ROMP, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, and the Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival. The current lineup features Connor Murray on bass since 2021 and the addition of banjo player Sam Guthridge in 2024. With two albums and numerous singles, their latest full-length, Shiny Side Up, was produced by Cody Kilby of the Travelin' McCourys and showcases bold playing and moody themes within a bluegrass framework. Industry praise has highlighted the record as a strong statement of the band’s place in the genre and its future. Their first single with the updated roster reimagines Jimi Hendrix’s Voodoo Child (Slight Return) with driving bluegrass power that nods to their roots while pushing into new territory.

  • Fri 7pm

    Styx

Freeman Arts Pavilion, 31822 Lakeview Dr, Selbyville · verified Sep 27
    See details

Styx takes the stage with the momentum of a band still creating at full tilt, highlighting Circling From Above, the group’s 18th studio album. Across 13 songs and roughly 41 minutes from start to finish, the record explores the tension between technology and the natural world, folding longtime Styx trademarks into fresh ideas that build on The Mission and Crash of the Crown. The high‑energy lead track "Build and Destroy" sets the pace, while a loose throughline inspired by abandoned satellites and a starling-filled sky gives the music a vivid backdrop of ambition, fallout and hope. Seven members shape this chapter: founding guitarist and vocalist James "JY" Young, Tommy Shaw, original bassist Chuck Panozzo, drummer Todd Sucherman, and keyboardist and vocalist Lawrence Gowan, joined by Will Evankovich and Terry Gowan. Evankovich also produced and co-wrote alongside Shaw and Lawrence Gowan, underscoring a collaborative spirit the band credits for its latest creative surge. The album’s range is wide, from the baritone bite and searing solo of "King of Love" to the traded lead vocals in "Forgive," the Bond-tinged urgency of "Michigan," and the lift of "It’s Clear," a rare cut with three different lead voices. Elsewhere, "Everybody Raise a Glass" nods to stacked harmony guitars, "We Lost the Wheel Again" charges forward on muscular rhythm work, "Blue-Eyed Raven" blends Spanish guitar, mandolin and a whirlwind fiddle solo, and "The Things That You Said" and the reflective closer "Only You Can Decide" center personal choice and shared responsibility. Long celebrated as a powerhouse on the road for a quarter century, Styx pairs veteran cohesion with this new chapter for a concert experience rooted in storytelling, musical craft and enduring chemistry.

The show nods to the era’s pop culture touchstones, from Cousin Brucie’s 77 WABC broadcasts and Evel Knievel’s daring feats to movie milestones like The Godfather and Jaws, while also connecting with newer fans who discovered these songs in films such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange. Crafted for multiple generations, it invites a joyful rediscovery of a decade that left an unforgettable mark on American music.

Milton Theatre, 110 Union St, Milton · verified Oct 2

Enjoy a matinee celebration of Elvis Presley’s music as Jesse Garron delivers a polished tribute filled with the voice, look, and charisma that made the original artist a legend. Backed by live musicians and female vocalists, the show spans rock, pop, gospel, and oldies that resonate across three generations. Garron has performed this tribute since 1997 and presents it with respect, using the name of Elvis’s twin brother who passed at birth to honor the legacy while recognizing there was only one Elvis. His passion began in early childhood and led to a standout high school performance at 17, which opened doors to larger stages and eventually to venues across the country, often playing to full houses. His journey includes an invitation to perform for the US Embassy in Algiers and recognition from legendary Elvis guitarist James Burton after a show in Louisiana. Audiences who saw Elvis live, along with people connected to the Presley family, frequently praise the authenticity of his portrayal. Tarkus

Milton Theatre, 110 Union St, Milton · verified Oct 2
    See details

Milton Theatre presents Tarkus, a tribute dedicated to the innovative music and compositional vision of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. The performance focuses on honoring the groundbreaking work of this iconic trio through faithful musicianship and deep respect for their legacy. Keyboardist Keith Turner grew up at the piano during the 60s and 70s amid R&B, classic rock, and Motown. He studied music at CCC while writing and performing both original material and ELP pieces for a class that included the late Billy Paul, and he cites Keith Emerson among his earliest influences. Multi-instrumentalist Mike comes from the New Jersey and Philadelphia music community and a family steeped in song, starting on drums like his older brother John. He later took up guitar at age 11 and studied with New Jersey jazz instructor Bill Johnson, with household favorites ranging from Genesis and Yes to ELP and The Beatles. Drummer John began playing at 13, inspired by John Bonham, Carl Palmer, Dave Weckl, and Buddy Rich. After lessons with local teachers and time in school bands, he performed in area clubs, graduated with honors from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, toured the Las Vegas casino circuit, and played around the world on cruise ships before returning to Delaware to pursue demanding projects such as Tarkus. This concert shines a light on the adventurous spirit and intricate arrangements that defined Emerson, Lake & Palmer, brought to life by musicians whose backgrounds span rock, jazz, and progressive traditions.
