A community tribute at the Alliance for the Arts honors the life and legacy of Barbara J. Yeomans, a beloved local artist and longtime resident. The gathering features an art show that reflects her joyful spirit, with hors d'oeuvres and drinks served. Guests are encouraged to wear bright, colorful clothing in her honor. A curated selection of Barbara’s artwork will be displayed in the Alliance main gallery and offered for purchase, organized by her daughter, Erika, together with Julio Gonzalez Batista, the Alliance’s Gallery and Artist Relations Manager. Proceeds support the Alliance and its ongoing work in arts education and community programs. The evening also includes a brief presentation in the theatre. The celebration recognizes Barbara’s decades of creative impact and service. Her practice spanned printmaking, painting, and mixed media, with exhibitions across the country and abroad, and she supported numerous arts organizations and mentorship initiatives. In connection with the event, her children announce the expansion of the Lawrence Sherrill Yeomans Scholarship Fund at Florida SouthWestern State College, which will be renamed to honor both L. Sherrill and Barbara J. Yeomans and will support students in the arts and health sciences.
