Stitch & Style: Sew Your Own Apron
Part of Craft & Create, a hands-on summer series that celebrates making by hand, this workshop invites you to design and sew a custom apron while learning beginner-friendly techniques that balance creativity, function, and personal style. The series features guided learning across fiber arts and sewing, culinary crafts, hosting, and expressive mixed-media experiences. Each class offers approachable techniques with room for personal expression in a welcoming environment that encourages you to slow down, experiment, and reconnect with creativity. Full series registration is $300, or $250 for members. Single class options are available for $45, with discounts for members. A $15 supply fee applies per class.

Arts & Eats Café presents a Puerto Rican three course dinner highlighting beloved island flavors. The first course features Asopao de Pollo alongside a fresh lettuce and tomato salad. The second course includes Arroz Blanco with Habichuelas Rosadas Guisadas, Guineitos en Escabeche, Guisado de Res con Papas, Mofongo, and fresh avocado. For dessert, choose Tres Leches Cake or Guava Ice Cream finished with guava sauce and a quesito bite. Soda or water is included, and café con leche is available. Reservations are required.

FMAS August Meeting: Collecting in Suriname
The monthly meeting features an auction and a presentation titled Collecting in Suriname. The talk follows an expedition on the Upper Tapanahony River in Suriname, highlighting the fishes and other fauna encountered, with visuals shared through photos and video. The speaker, Sam Borstein, is an assistant professor of biology at Texas State University in San Marcos. His work examines ecological and evolutionary factors that shape fish diversity, often using cichlids as a model, and his field experience includes collecting in Costa Rica and Suriname.
