In 2023 it entered the Euro Americana chart at number 5 and the U.S. FAI Folk Music chart at number 3, and his recording of Terlingua Blues was featured on a Texas Monthly Big Bend playlist that January. With more than 25 years on the road, he has performed with artists including Sarah Lee Guthrie, Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Pete Seeger, appearing solo, in small ensembles, and with his TexAmericana Jam Band, the Hank Woji Conspiracy. Roy Schneider, founder of Reckless Saints, turned fully to music at 16 after escaping a program that had barred him from playing. He taught himself songs by Dylan, the Dead, and the Beatles, later balancing art and music as a single father, a Happy Meal toy designer, and the creator of the syndicated comic strip The Humble Stumble. His originals have made him a three-time Kerrville New Folk finalist. He performed on national television during Season 5 of The Voice, and has opened for or accompanied John McEuen, Charlie McCoy, Joe Craven, Malcolm Holcombe, Verlon Thompson, Freebo, Buddy Mondlock, and Tom Paxton. His songwriting has been recorded by Albert King, Albert Collins, Joe Louis Walker, and Eva Cassidy, and it has appeared in film, television, and theater. Recent honors include Acoustic Album of the Year in 2024 for Raw Blues 1 and Acoustic Artist of the Year in 2023, along with additional nominations in 2025. His albums A Soul to Claim, produced by Jim Gaines, and Between Somewhere and Goodbye, produced by Andreas Werner, were named Albums of the Year by DownBeat Magazine in 2022 and 2025. Michael Boswell’s roots trace to Brighton, Tennessee, where family instruments sparked an early love of music. During registration, runners choose a country to represent, honoring their own heritage or a culture they appreciate, and many come dressed in Hispanic-inspired outfits and carry flags to show their pride. A live DJ provides the soundtrack, while MC FitconsazonSWFL, known as “The Dominican Hulk Hogan,” keeps the energy high throughout the festivities. After the race, a lighthearted Latin couples dance contest invites pairs to share the dance floor for smiles and fun rather than perfect technique. To enter, teams add their names with the DJ before the race, and both participants must be registered runners who can show proof of registration by bib, wristband, or check-in. Every participant receives an official race shirt and a custom finisher medal. Awards follow the dance competition and require being present to receive them. ACMA and Island Hopper present a showcase of local songwriters at The Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center, where members of the Americana Community Music Association, a Fort Myers nonprofit that supports original music year-round, will perform in the round and share the stories behind their songs. The lineup features Roy Schneider, Anthony Wayne, Bill Metts, Tim McGeary, and Matt Hannam. Roy Schneider, a founding member of the Americana duo Reckless Saints, has spent two decades performing original music across the United States and abroad, earned three NewFolk Finalist honors at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, appeared on Season 5 of NBC’s The Voice, and placed in the Telluride Acoustic Blues competition in Colorado. He and partner Kim Mayfield released the album Blue Twangled Folk’n’ Roll. Southwest Florida singer songwriter Anthony Wayne blends roots rock and Americana influences with memorable hooks and reflective storytelling, drawing on nearly twenty years of performances along the Gulf Coast while releasing original recordings and videos. Bill Metts, inspired by the 1960s country blues revival and known for finger-style guitar, has performed at the Mississippi John Hurt Blues Festival, Ground Zero in Clarksdale, the Will McLean Festival, and the BMI sponsored Island Hopper Songwriter Festival, and for four years hosted the weekly Songwriter Circle at the ACMA. Tim McGeary of Naples, signed in the 80s to A&M Records, toured with artists such as Billy Idol, Duran Duran, and Simple Minds, has songwriting credits on television shows including Smallville and One Tree Hill and on films including The Kiss Me Curse and Girl Got Mo, and now writes and produces for artists around the world. Matt Hannam of Fort Myers has performed solo, as half of Another Era, and with the five piece band The Collective, is an ACMA member since the organization’s first year, and is also part of the Hope by Song organization. Participants build strength, improve flexibility, and move alongside their dogs in a pet friendly setting created for both pups and people. Tickets are $30 per person, and all proceeds go to Gulf Coast Humane Society to help homeless pets.

Halloween Spooktacular delivers a family-friendly mix of eerie surprises and plenty of candy. Snap photos with costumed characters, then make your way along a trick or treat trail that winds through participating retailers, restaurants, and the Local Ladies craft fair booths to gather goodies. Enjoy live entertainment throughout, including a unicyclist and dancers. Suitable for all ages, with costumes encouraged and a treat bag handy for collecting sweets. The 4th annual Heritage Cares Drive Out Hunger Charity Golf Tournament brings golfers together at The Club at Pelican Preserve to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida and the Heritage Cares Foundation. Participation supports neighbors facing hunger and unexpected hardships while offering a full day on the course with good food and a strong sense of community. The day’s flow includes registration, a shotgun start, cocktails, and a dinner program with awards. A Drive Out Hunger brunch with a silent auction is also planned, welcoming tournament players as well as supporters who want to contribute to the cause.
