Hand Carving Stamps

At Gateway Art Gallery, this hands-on class focuses on creating a reusable hand-carved stamp for future projects. Participants can sketch a personal design or choose a pre-made option from the instructor’s selection. Guided instruction covers planning a motif with different approaches and materials, transferring and tracing a stencil onto stamp rubber, using carving tools safely and effectively, and printing a test run by making cards. The fee includes stamp rubber and a mount, use of carving tools and other supplies, ink pads and testing paper, plus helpful guidance throughout. Light refreshments, including snacks, coffee, and a water cooler, are available. Cost is $30 for ALNF members and $35 for non-members. Registration is handled through the gallery or the online ticket option and closes one day before the class or when capacity is reached.

WEEKLY TRIVIA ON THURSDAYS!

A lively trivia night in Lake City hosted by Casey Hull features two separate sessions, each with three rounds. Round winners spin a prize wheel for assorted rewards, the top team of each session receives a $25 gift card, and a grand prize is available for those who participate in both sessions. Questions are refreshed each week and presented on a projector, with an audio round, an image round, and a mix of general knowledge categories.

The Art Of Intuitive Body Unwinding

This workshop focuses on intuitive body unwinding, offering guidance to support self healing and to release anxiety, stress, and trauma stored in the body. Set in Lake City, Florida, it encourages caring for the whole self and includes a healthy plant based food truck with nourishing options available during the event.

Calling all teens! Join in on a group discussion of all things anime and manga. You can talk about your favorites, new things youd like to try, and get some new ideas for what to try next!

Fusing Glass in a Microwave Kiln

At Gateway Art Gallery, this interactive workshop invites participants to craft fused glass art using a microwave kiln. Receive guidance on operating the kiln, create a design, and stack layers of glass, then watch the heating process turn your arrangement into a finished, kiln-fused piece. Beginners are welcome, and all supplies are provided.

Friday Pickleball Social

A rotating partner pickleball social at The Woods in Lake City invites players to mix teammates each round and meet new people. Games are played to 11, with about six rounds across four courts for roughly 90 minutes of play. Entry is $15, and the winner earns a $100 Woods gift card that can be used on pickleball, roller skating, food, drinks, or events at The Woods.

This gentle lapsit session at the Main Library welcomes infants and their caregivers for shared songs, classic rhymes, and playful bounces that support early literacy. Activities emphasize how reading, singing, talking, writing, and play work together to help little ones grow into readers.

Open Water Checkout Weekend: GINNIE SPRINGS, FL

Complete the final step toward your SSI Open Water Diver certification at Ginnie Springs. After finishing the academic and pool portions of training, participants complete five open water dives over two days under the supervision of an SSI Instructor to satisfy certification requirements. At Olustee Park, the City of Lake City hosts a recurring Growers and Makers Market that takes place on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Birdhouse & Pollinator Planter Build Day

At Hodor Park, the Florida Chapter of the American Daughters of Conservation offers a hands-on day of building, planting, and contributing to local habitat. Participants can choose one project or do both, each designed to benefit birds and pollinators while adding beauty at home. In the birdhouse activity, all materials are provided along with power tools for assembly, and guidance is available for beginners and experienced builders so everyone can complete a functional, attractive nesting box to take home. In the pollinator planter activity, bring a container from home, then use the provided soil and four flowering plants per person to create a pollinator-friendly arrangement suitable for a porch or yard. Palette Knife Expressions

At Gateway Art Gallery, accomplished plein air artist John Larner leads an oil painting class focused on working quickly and with intention using palette knives and an impasto approach. With expert guidance, participants learn to loosen up, build confidence, and create rich textures and vibrant strokes with a knife. The class welcomes those new to oils as well as painters looking to refine their technique, and it aims to spark fresh creative energy. If the minimum enrollment is not met, the class may be rescheduled, so please ensure you are available for the alternate date in case the session moves.

Weekly Puppy Hour

Gateway to 100k Gravel Grind biking adventure — Singletrack Samurai Productions

Embark on a dirt road adventure, exploring the scenic routes through the River Rise Corridor and High Springs. This ride starts and ends in High Springs. With options of 100k (62 miles), 54 and 44k, this event showcases the canopy-lined dirt roads in the High Springs area. Experience the beauty of the surroundings and enjoy opportunities to refresh in the local springs and rivers. There will be store stops and a SAG stop. The ride fee includes a curated route, one SAG stop, and a commemorative ride souvenir. This is an unsupported ride.

Moonlight Guided Paddle

Set out on a moonlit paddle across shimmering waters with a chance to spot nocturnal wildlife along the route. The price is $50 per person and includes a guided tour and watercraft rental.

North Florida Spring Championships

This is a softball tournament taking place in Lake City, FL. It features open divisions for ages 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U. The tournament is hosted at Southside Sports Complex.

The Untamed Band

Admission is free for a live set from The Untamed Band, formerly known as Midnight Blue, featuring a danceable mix of classic rock, country, and blues. Eddy’s Patty will be on site cooking grilled burgers and chicken sandwiches to order. 49th Annual Pioneer Days in High Springs

Spring Pedal n Paddle Festival

Hosted by the Suwannee Bicycle Association, this festival brings together cycling and paddling adventures centered at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park on the Suwannee River. Expect guided mountain bike outings across more than 50 miles of trails in and around the river corridor, along with gravel rides and road rides on country routes. The schedule also features two guided paddling outings on scenic rivers led by a local kayaking expert. Registration covers an event T-shirt, a choice of one to three nights of camping, and meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with Thursday evening set as a potluck. Vegetarian options are available for all meals.

May Meet

A new monthly classic and collector car cruise is rolling into downtown Lake City, created in partnership by Our Place Lake City, Halpatter Brewing Company, and Marion Street Bistro & Brewhouse. The evening celebrates car culture for enthusiasts and spectators, featuring live music, best in show awards, pin-up contests, photo opportunities with the vehicles, great food, and cold craft beer. Look for a broad showcase of classic and collector cars, including hot rods and muscle cars, all set in a nostalgic atmosphere that echoes the beloved Bel-Air Plaza cruise nights in Daytona from the Turkey Rod Run years. Organizers aim to grow this into something special for the car community and welcome ideas and feedback.

Cruise-In Car Show

Downtown Lake City sets the stage for a new monthly celebration of classic and collector cars, created in partnership by Our Place, Halpatter’s, Marion Street Bistro, and The Tavern on Marion. The gathering brings car culture to the heart of town with live music at Halpatter’s, plenty of standout vehicles, photo opportunities among the lineup, and a spread of great food with cold craft beer. The scene centers around Halpatter Brewing Company’s outdoor bar and the parking area by the Darby Pavilion, aiming to recapture the nostalgic spirit of the Bel-Air Plaza cruise nights from the Daytona Turkey Rod Run era. Drivers who want to compete should park in the Darby Pavilion lot and register their vehicle at Our Place. Registration is free, provides a number to display for public voting, and unlocks discounts at each participating location. Parking without registering is welcome, but only numbered cars are eligible for awards. A photographer will be circulating to capture cars and their owners. Best in show will be awarded in two classes, Antique for 1995 and older and New Makes for 1996 to present, with winners announced from the stage at Halpatter’s. Award recipients need to be present to claim their prize. Spectators can pick up a voting card at any participating location to choose favorites in each category. Cars will be clearly marked with numbers and class to make voting simple. Completed ballots can be dropped off at Halpatter’s Garage Bar, and winners will be named on the Halpatter’s stage. A pin-up contest unfolds at the end of the first band’s set. Participants take a photo with a classic car inside Halpatter’s biergarten, then the crowd helps decide who earns the title of Ms Rev-Up Pin-Up. Guests can also snap a photo of a favorite car, share it with the hashtag #revuplakecity, and show it to a bartender at Halpatter’s to receive 10 percent off their tab.

Quarter Paddle Auction

Pick up a paddle for $3, place a bid, and if the number pulled from the bucket matches your paddle, you win a prize. Guidance is available for anyone new to the game, and participants may trade or barter for prizes. Donations of new or nearly new, gently used items are welcome, making it easy to clear out extra belongings while supporting local efforts. Proceeds are split between Cats Amore cat shelter and the Veteran Service Officer Fund. The auction is run by Dawn Mathison, who partners with Lake City pet stores to re-home community cats, ensuring they are healthy, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered so they are ready for a new home. The Veteran Service Officer Fund helps provide food, shelter, gas, and other assistance to homeless veterans working toward permanent housing, supporting veterans and their families in Columbia County. Kiwanis Kid's Day 2026

The Florida Gateway Fairgrounds hosts the 11th anniversary of Kiwanis Kids Day, a full day of activities for children. Young attendees can enjoy inflatable play areas and water slides, take part in a hands-on workshop, play games, visit a petting zoo, and choose from a range of food options, with more to discover on site. Admission is $5 for ages 16 and under, and ages 17 and older are admitted free. The event supports programs and initiatives that work to improve the lives of children throughout Columbia County.

Celebrate mothers at the sixth annual Hats Off to Mom, a cheerful afternoon at the Gallery with tea, tasty treats, and live entertainment. Play Art Bingo, explore with a scavenger hunt in the Gallery, and enjoy table games, all with opportunities to win prizes, door prizes, and a raffle basket. Awards will spotlight the Oldest Mom, the Most Recent Mom, and the Best Hat. Attendees are welcome to bring guests to share in the celebration. Tickets are available, and Art League members receive exclusive discounts.

Annual Benefit Show for the Orphanage

The event offers a full day of live music in support of a good cause, with many different artists performing throughout. Appreciation goes to everyone working to make it happen.

The program puts these classes in the spotlight with a full slate of on-track action.

Alachua County Master Gardener Spring Plant Sale

Shop for Florida-friendly plants, including natives, edibles, herbs, citrus, and trees. Master Gardener Volunteers will be available to provide guidance. Admission and on-site parking are free. This is a family-friendly event focused on gardening, learning, and community.

Proposed Intersection Improvements on Branford Highway (State Road 247) and Bascom Norris Drive

The Florida Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting about proposed improvements at the intersection of Branford Highway (State Road 247) and Bascom Norris Drive. There will be an in-person session at Florida Gateway Fairgrounds and a separate virtual meeting. Participants in either format will have the same opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the project directly from the project team.

Taco Tuesday: Boots & Bulls Edition

Taco Tuesday takes on a wild twist with mechanical bull riding, flavored margarita specials, and a nacho bar ready to keep the energy up. Music from DJ 250 fills the deck, and line dancing crews are welcome to show their steps. Admission is complimentary with an advance ticket, or $5 at the door. Ladies Kayak + Cabin River Getaway

Created by Wandering Adventures, this women-focused river retreat offers a welcoming weekend of comfort, connection, and outdoor exploration along the Ichetucknee River. Participants stay in a lakeside Airbnb with real beds, a full kitchen, and views of the water. Days feature guided kayaking and paddleboarding on clear springs and winding river sections, time in nature, and home-cooked meals prepared by the hosts. Evenings offer relaxed conversation around the campfire under starry skies. The experience includes three nights of lodging at a private retreat house, all paddling gear, shared meals, and a focus on community. Attendance is limited to six participants. Guides handle the details, from equipment to the grocery list, so the focus stays on unwinding and enjoying the setting.

Lemon Bliss LLC marks its first anniversary with an official ribbon cutting celebrating a year of bringing luxury, trust, and attentive care to local homes. Matthew Sabatella and the Rambling String Band at the Florida Folk Festival

Matthew Sabatella and the Rambling String Band perform as part of the 74th annual Florida Folk Festival, a three-day celebration of Florida’s culture through music, dance, storytelling, crafts, and food. The group is slated to appear each day of the festival, with specific schedule and stage information to be announced. Featuring vocals, guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, bass fiddle, and mountain dulcimer, the ensemble shares a wide range of American roots traditions, including folk songs, fiddle tunes, old-time country, bluegrass, Appalachian music, ragtime, blues, spirituals, railroad and cowboy songs, work songs, sea shanties, reels, breakdowns, and ballads. Honoring the legacy of old-time string bands and songsters, they perform with deep respect for the music’s history while reflecting the members’ backgrounds in late twentieth century rock and pop. The lineup includes Matthew Sabatella on vocals, guitar, banjo, and mountain dulcimer, Jack Stamates on fiddle, Chris DeAngelis on bass fiddle and vocals, and Sean Edelson on mandolin, guitar, and vocals.

Celebrate Father’s Day early at Gateway Art Gallery by teaming up to create a stained glass piece from pre-cut glass. Participants learn and apply copper foil and soldering techniques, then finish and take home a display-ready creation. All supplies are included and beginners are welcome. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Expect a mix of seated and standing activity, so wear comfortable clothing. Registration covers one dad plus one participant age 14 or older.

Coffee & Commerce, presented by SERVPRO, is a Chamber program held every other month that focuses on meaningful conversations and relationship building. The June session at Towneplace Suites by Marriott Lakecity Florida features Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber, sharing updates on Florida’s economy, the business climate across the region including Columbia County, and the outlook for companies statewide. Participants can hear directly from community leaders and stakeholders about key issues, projects, and initiatives, receive news about upcoming Chamber activities, and connect with new members. The program welcomes both members and guests, with exclusive pricing available to Chamber members as a benefit of membership. Seating is limited and must be secured in advance. Ginnie Springs Silkies Float Fathers Day Weekend 2026!

A multi-day, family-friendly camping and river float at Ginnie Springs brings the IW Florida community together for its annual Silkies Float. Hosted by IW Florida and led by Hike Doc Mike McPherson and Len Clark, the gathering blends relaxed campground time with plenty of time on the water. Plans call for a reserved electrical campsite section once booking opens, and primitive sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Daily check-in is offered, quiet hours are observed, and camping is not permitted near the Ginnie or Devil's Springs system. A military discount may be available at check-in. Estimated camping fees per person per night are 25 to 30 dollars for adults, 8 dollars for kids ages 5 to 12, and free for children 4 and under, with an additional 11 dollars for electric and water sites. Prices can change and may be higher on holiday weekends. Attendees can stay for a single night or enjoy the entire weekend. Group breakfasts and dinners are planned, with organizers coordinating what each person brings, and a relaxed family float and BBQ are part of the plans. Helpful items to pack include a tent and sleeping gear, swimwear and water shoes, sunscreen, a sturdy float or an on-site rental plus an air pump, a life jacket, a cooler and a floating cooler for drinks and snacks, dry bags with ropes or tethers for group floats, and optional snorkel and fins with rentals available. Bringing an item to contribute to group meals is encouraged. Safety guidelines emphasize avoiding illegal substances, never drinking and driving, staying hydrated and alert on the river, and respecting all park rules and quiet hours. The environment is intended to be judgment free and welcoming to families.

Ginnie Springs- Float Party featuring Camp Easy Ride!

Camp Easy Ride brings a pop-up lodging experience to Ginnie Springs, blending the rally-ready convenience it is known for with the spirit of the open road and a social float party campout. Ginnie Springs is known as a party-friendly setting among Florida’s springs, and as a privately owned site that permits adult beverages, it provides an environment suited to a festive float and camping experience. The LITE lodging option is $499 and is designed for minimal effort. A premium 10x14 high-ceiling tent comes furnished with a raised pillow-top air mattress, full linens with comforter and pillows, indoor and outdoor rugs, and two camp chairs. Extras include a rechargeable high-velocity fan with light and power bank. A low-noise generator supports the shared social space for coffee service, lighting, and device charging. The community area offers lounge seating, a cook station with utensils, a daily coffee setup, a gas fire pit when allowed by the venue, and morning cocktails at no extra cost. Setup, teardown, and cleaning are handled, and guests have use of supplied gear throughout the stay. The exact location of the group lodging area within the venue will be shared 24 hours before check-in because sites are first come, first served and a host will arrive early to secure the spot. Activity fees vary and are separate. The venue charges $30 per person per night, payable directly upon arrival. Availability is limited due to venue constraints, and a reservation can be started with a $50 deposit.
