Santigold takes the stage at Heartwood Soundstage for an outdoor, all ages concert that highlights a career defined by fearless experimentation and a bold visual sensibility. After the adventurous I Don’t Want: The Gold Fire Sessions mixtape, which explored Afro-Caribbean rhythms, she contributed backing vocals to several songs on Tyler, the Creator’s Igor and collaborated with him on the Grinch-inspired Lights On, and teamed with DJ Mehdi, Busy P, and reggae pioneer U-Roy on a version of Man Next Door. Her fourth album, Spirituals, looks at what it means to endure and grow in challenging times, focusing on transformation, transcendence, and evolution. Largely made during the 2020 lockdown while she balanced family life, the record came together through virtual sessions with collaborators including Rostam, Boys Noize, Dre Skull, P2J, Nick Zinner, SBTRKT, JakeOne, Illangelo, Doc McKinney, Psymun, Ricky Blaze, Lido, Ray Brady, and Ryan Olson. The title nods to the tradition of spirituals that helped Black communities find a sense of freedom through sound and performance. Beyond the studio, Santigold has partnered with visual artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Wangechi Mutu, Kara Walker, and Sanford Biggers, explored brand collaborations, and appeared in comedic roles on The Office and Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV. She is expanding Spirituals into a multisensory world with music, video vignettes, new ways of sharing her visual art, a forthcoming natural skincare line and a tea bearing the Spirituals name, and a podcast of conversations with fellow artists and visionaries. One dollar from each ticket supports Food For The Poorja.

Heartwood SoundstageWith Everything Going On - Live at Heartwood Soundstage
Curated by Gainesville songwriter Jordan Burchel, this gathering at Heartwood Soundstage is both a festival and the official release celebration for his new album of the same name. Local and regional artists including Nick Lutsko String Band, The Nancys, Lauris Vidal, Spencer Thomas, Morningbell, Lauren Woodall, and others come together, reflecting voices shaped by this place and moment. Born from the challenge of making art in a heavy, chaotic time, the album and festival acknowledge doubts about creativity’s impact while embracing the pull to show up, create, and share in community. The experience makes room for that tension, inviting feeling and turning shared catharsis into a foundation for meaningful participation in the world. Alongside the reflection, look for scorching guitar solos, beers, and options for those skipping beer.
Jordan Burchel
Rooted in Gainesville, Florida, Jordan Burchel delivers catchy indie rock that blends psychedelic hues, the closeness of folk, and finely sharpened storytelling. The music leans into hooks while carrying an introspective streak.
