Preschool storytime is designed for children ages 3 to 5 and features stories, finger plays, and action rhymes. Caregivers are required to stay in the library but cannot accompany children into the program. Sessions begin promptly, and latecomers cannot be admitted. First-time visitors can stop by the library beforehand to meet the presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore the children’s area, and take a library tour. Barktoberfest returns for its 11th year at Grand Park in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, celebrating dogs with a spirited costume contest and dog-only trick-or-treating. Expect Oktoberfest-inspired drinks from Tito’s Vodka for Dog People, light bites from JC’s Gourmet, music from DJ Diamond Dan, raffle prizes, and the signature Halloween Costume Contest for four-legged participants. A $15 donation, or $20 on the day, enters a costumed dog and handler into the contest for a chance to win fun prizes. The event is free and open to the public and is part of the Coastal Culture Series through the Grand Boulevard Arts & Entertainment Program. Families can enjoy the seventh annual trick or treat night at Camp Timpoochee in Niceville, featuring safe cabin-to-cabin candy stops, costumes, and family-friendly fun. Admission is free, with donations appreciated. Organizers ask attendees to mark Going to help estimate turnout and make sure the candy supply lasts. The event will include announcements of 2027 summer camp dates and a drawing for a free registration for a week of day camp. Raffle entries are a suggested donation of $5 for one or $20 for five. The Timpoochee table will share details on year-round programs, upcoming summer dates, and scholarship information.
