Beginner Bonsai Workshop at Small Batches Cafe, FWB

A calm, hands-on evening of creativity unfolds as Zen Den Bonsai Workshops brings an intimate bonsai experience to Small Batches Cafe & Collective in Fort Walton Beach. Over two hours, participants explore the art and philosophy of bonsai, learning potting, pruning, shaping, and wiring with step by step guidance from seasoned instructor John Hunter. No experience is required, and gloves are available for anyone who prefers not to get their hands dirty. Each person works with a beautifully pre pruned tree and a premium Japanese ceramic pot, uses professional tools during the session, and receives two hours of personalized instruction. Everyone heads home with the bonsai they styled and a curated care kit that includes a tote bag, spray bottle, mini shears, fertilizer with a basket, a Zen Den sticker, and detailed aftercare instructions, making it easy to keep the tree thriving. The atmosphere is relaxed and social, with conversation and laughter creating a sense of community and connection. Newcomers and returning enthusiasts attend side by side, which makes it a fit for solo guests, a unique date, team building, birthdays, and special celebrations. Seating is intentionally limited to preserve a personal, hands on experience, and workshops often sell out.

Intuitive Tarot Readings & Spiritual Guidance — In Person

This in-person offering at Stone Soup ISC focuses on intuitive tarot and spiritual guidance that reaches deeper than a quick reading. Each session unfolds as an unhurried, grounded conversation shaped by tarot and oracle cards alongside clear intuitive insight. The practitioner, trained as a seer, channels and attunes to context, energy, story, and pattern to help map what is emerging in your life. Together, you may explore generational and inherited cycles, emotional blocks and avoidance, the initiation you are moving through, repeating relationship dynamics, questions of direction and turning points, influences that seem to echo from other lifetimes, and the meaning of the season you are in now. Many arrive with something difficult to name and leave with clearer understanding of the themes at play, the lesson beneath them, and a next step forward. This is a supportive space to slow down, look honestly at what is happening, and reconnect with your own inner knowing. I Can (Paint) Myself Flowers: A Mixed Media Workshop with Renee Broxson

As part of Distilled: An Artist Series at Distillery 98, mixed media artist Renee Broxson leads a hands-on workshop that blends painting and collage to create a vibrant, single-flower artwork. She shares her approach to layering papers and paint, selecting color intuitively, and shaping a bloom that reflects personal style and mood. Participants explore mixed media fundamentals, build texture and depth, experiment with composition in a welcoming setting, and leave with a finished floral piece that feels uniquely their own. All materials are provided, and cocktails are available for purchase in the Distillery 98 tasting room during the session. It can also serve as a heartfelt keepsake ahead of Mother’s Day. Renee began painting in 2014 and brings a disciplined, growth-minded practice shaped by curiosity and persistence, the same determination that helped her earn a tennis scholarship to the University of West Florida at age 32. Her artwork features whimsical, abstracted figures and animals inspired by individuality, from bold clothing and standout shoes to expressive accessories and meaningful tattoos, and a portion of her sales supports local charities that benefit people and animals. She is the Featured Artist for the 38th Annual ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival from the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County. This workshop is produced by Distillery 98 alongside Emerald Coast Storytellers, in partnership with the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County. Intuitive Tarot Readings & Spiritual Guidance — In Person

At Stone Soup ISC, these one-on-one tarot and oracle sessions unfold as unhurried, grounded conversations that use the cards and clear intuition to chart what is emerging in your life. Rather than relying on memorized meanings, the practitioner draws on training as a seer to channel insight and read context, energy, story, and pattern. Together you might explore family legacies and repeating cycles, emotional avoidance and stuck points, the spiritual threshold you are navigating, recurring relationship themes, choices at a crossroads, influences that seem to echo from other lifetimes, and the deeper significance of your current chapter. Many people arrive unsure of what feels heavy or hard to name, and often leave with a clearer sense of the pattern at play, the lesson it carries, and a next step that feels aligned. This is a quiet space to slow down, speak honestly about what is happening, and reconnect with your own inner guidance. Appointments are encouraged, and walk ins may be possible as time allows. Whitechapel

Whitechapel brings unrelenting intensity to Club L.A., spotlighting the darker sonic vision behind Hymns in Dissonance. Built around a chilling narrative of a cult leader and the sinister chants of his followers, the album pairs crushing riff work with a cinematic arc that rises and falls for maximum impact. Each song functions as a dissonant hymn that deliberately subverts harmony, with selections tied to the seven deadly sins. The band self-produced with guitarist Zach Householder guiding the sessions, streamlining the move from writing to recording, and cover art by Rob Borbas, inspired by an eerie mask concept from Ben Savage, connects to the story’s ominous theme. Listeners may recognize flashes of the group’s early heaviness, including the drop A assault of Hate Cult Ritual, while new textures push the music even darker. Singles A Visceral Retch and the title track anchor this chapter. The lineup features Phil Bozeman on vocals, Ben Savage, Zach Householder, and Alex Wade on guitars, Gabe Crisp on bass, and Brandon Zackey on drums, with a sound rooted in death, black, and speed metal influences.

Lights, Camera, Courage: A Sickle Cell Film Event

At Suds N Cinema, a film program honors the resilience, contributions, and progress of African Americans in cinema with a focus on the fight against sickle cell disease, and it also commemorates local civil rights history. It highlights national advances in medicine, lifts up community voices, and acknowledges historic milestones in Okaloosa County. The venue once operated as the Tringas Theater, where in the 1950s African American residents were limited to viewing films from a small upstairs balcony, a local chapter that frames the day’s reflections. The centerpiece is a screening of A Warm December, directed by and starring Sidney Poitier, a poignant story about love, dignity, and illness that connects to themes of sickle cell awareness. A reflection and discussion will follow the film. The program also features the work of Juliet Romeo, an award-winning filmmaker whose storytelling reflects her identity as a disabled Caribbean woman. Her documentaries on life with sickle cell disease include J.U.L.E.S and the award-winning short Uncomplicated. Her films have appeared on PBS and on Delta’s in-flight entertainment, and she founded the Unstoppable program at the Slamdance Film Festival to support filmmakers with disabilities. Her advocacy for sickle cell healthcare and disability rights has been widely recognized.

Wednesday Night Concert Series | Modern Eldorados

Wednesday Night Concerts return to The Village of Baytowne Wharf with an outdoor show on the Events Plaza Stage, featuring live music from both local and regional performers across a range of genres. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. This week features The Modern Eldorados, formed in 1994 as a platform for singer and songwriter Gretsch Lyles and collaborator Chris Reid to present their original classic country sound. Lyles grew up in a family of musicians and drew deep inspiration from his grandparents’ era of country greats. Raised in rural Baldwin County, Alabama, he began singing and playing guitar at six and wrote his first song at sixteen. Guided by the legacy of Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash, his style and voice reflect those roots. Their performance goes beyond a standard set, blending rich country history with energetic showmanship. Lyles commands the stage with the conviction of a gospel preacher and a streak of witty Southern humor, shaping an engaging tour through true American honky tonk.
