The Shark is Broken

Step behind the camera for a sharp comedy about the making of Jaws. Tempers flare, the weather refuses to cooperate, and a finicky mechanical shark keeps failing, turning the set into a pressure cooker. Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, and Roy Scheider clash and connect as they trade quips, share drinks, place bets, and wish for the ordeal to end, not realizing they are helping launch the age of the summer blockbuster. Co-written by Ian Shaw, son of Robert Shaw, with Joseph Nixon, this play captures the friction, camaraderie, and humor that surged while a classic came to life.
