This workshop introduces Japanese ink painting with instructor Fontaine Rodgers. Work with authentic ink and brushes while exploring the tradition’s philosophy, history, and hallmark brushwork. Subjects include bamboo, grasses, and birds. Expect guided practice in essential strokes like grass, bamboo leaves, and bone or stem forms, with special attention to bamboo as one of the Four Gentlemen. Fontaine Rodgers is a member of the Sumi-e Society of America. She teaches Sumi-e, printmaking, and drawing at the Museum of Art DeLand, the Crealdé Museum of Art in Winter Park, and Winter Garden’s SOBO Gallery, and recently relocated to Ocala. She holds a BFA, cum laude, from the Maryland Institute College of Art and currently serves as president of the Central Florida Printmakers. She works with adults and teens and is a retired International Baccalaureate art teacher. Her artwork is represented in collections in the United States and abroad. The fee is $50, and all supplies are provided for use during class.

Pool Dish - Clay Workshop
Explore clay hand-building while creating a dish inspired by a swimming pool. Shape the form from scratch, add textured water and poolside details, and craft miniature clay floaties and accessories with guided instruction. Suitable for beginners and those with experience, for ages 12 and up. This class uses a two step process. First, build the piece during the workshop. The item then dries and receives its first kiln firing, which typically takes about 2 to 3 weeks. When it is ready to paint, you will receive a phone call. Painting can be done as a walk-in without a class or appointment. After painting, the piece goes through a second kiln firing that usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks, followed by a final phone call for pickup. A $10 deposit is required to reserve a seat and will be applied to the total at checkout.

The entry rental package is $25 and includes a Mod-M or Mod-L AEG, one high-cap magazine, a bag of 1000 Valken .20 BBs, a 9.6V lithium battery, and an M1-3 thermal mask. The advanced rental package is $45 and provides a Kilo or Tango AEG, two high-cap magazines, a 2200-count bottle of STRYKER .25 BBs, a 7.4V lipo battery, an M1-7 thermal mask, and a STRYKER chest rig. Add-on gear can be rented on site, including a 9.6V battery for $10, an M1-3 thermal mask for $10, a high-cap magazine for $5, and a STRYKER chest rig for $20. Safety and fair play are emphasized on the field. Full seal eye protection rated to ANSI Z87.1 or higher is required at all times on the battlefield with no exceptions. Masks and eye protection must remain on while in play. Players are expected to call their hits and use a red dead rag when out, then proceed to the respawn area. Do not blind fire or move obstacles. Keep interactions respectful and take any issues to a referee, who has the final say. All replicas must pass chrono before play and may be checked at random. In the safe zone, clear your replica by removing the magazine, switching to safe, and firing a few rounds into a safe location before taking off safety gear. Only pyrotechnic and smoke grenades sold at the field are allowed in designated areas, and they must be underhand-lobbed rather than thrown at players. Grenades have a 15-foot effect radius, can be tossed through windows, hard cover only counts in milsim situations, and a detonation clears all players in the same enclosed room. Age-based protective gear is required. Players 10 to 15 must wear full face masks. Players 16 to 17 must use full seal eye protection with mesh or plastic lower face protection. Players 18 and older must use full seal eye protection and face protection is recommended. Red dead rags are mandatory and are available for purchase at the field. Replica and ammo policies keep gameplay consistent. Rentals must use approved BBs or BBs purchased on site. Chronographing is done with at least .32 BBs for HPA replicas and .20 BBs for pistols, AEGs, and spring-powered replicas. Rate of fire is capped at 25 rounds per second. Magazines must be removed and at least three shots cleared into a safe location before entering the safe zone. Class limits apply. Pistols and shotguns must be under 1.45 joules with .20 BBs. Pistols may shoot semi with no minimum engagement distance, and full auto requires 25 feet. Shotguns may shoot semi with no minimum and full auto at 50 feet. Rifles must be under 1.5 joules with .20 BBs for AEGs or 1.55 joules with .32 BBs for HPA. Rifles run semi with a 10-foot minimum unless otherwise announced, and full auto is allowed only in specific games and is rare. SMGs must be true SMG platforms or a fully automatic sidearm such as a Glock 18, stay at or below 1 joule with .20 BBs, use mid-cap magazines, have no minimum on semi and 25 feet on full auto. LMGs must be true LMG platforms, stay under 1.5 joules with .20 BBs, use burst with a 25-foot minimum or full auto with a 50-foot minimum, and cannot be walked in full auto unless the replica can also fire semi. DMRs must be under 2.0 joules with .20 BBs, are semi only, use mid-cap or real-cap magazines, and have a 75-foot minimum. Sniper replicas must be bolt action, under 2.25 joules with .20 BBs, restricted to semi operation, and have a 100-foot minimum. Expect fast-paced games, a friendly community, and clear rules that keep the action moving.

The advanced package is $45 and upgrades to a Kilo or Tango AEG, two high-cap magazines, a 2,200-count bottle of Stryker .25 BBs, a 7.4V LiPo battery, an M1-7 thermal mask, and a Stryker chest rig. Add-on rentals are also offered, including a 9.6V lithium battery for $10, an M1-3 thermal mask for $10, a high-cap magazine for $5, and a Stryker chest rig for $20. Safety and fair play are emphasized on the field. Full-seal eye protection rated ANSI Z87.1 or higher is mandatory during gameplay. Keep masks and eye protection on while in the battle area, call hits honestly, avoid blind firing, and do not move or climb field obstacles. Maintain respectful conduct and bring any disputes to a referee, who has the final say. Before entering the safe zone, clear your replica, remove magazines, switch to safety, and fire a few rounds into a safe area to ensure the barrel is empty. All equipment must pass chronograph checks, and random on-field checks may occur; a valid chrono tag is required to play. Start times and firing modes are announced by staff, and players who miss the briefing wait for the next round. Only pyrotechnic grenades and smoke sold at the field are permitted in designated areas, throws must be underhand, do not throw directly at players, grenades may be lobbed through windows, and a 15-foot effect radius applies. Age-based protective requirements apply. Players ages 10 to 15 must use a full face mask. Ages 16 to 17 require full-seal eye protection with mesh or plastic lower face coverage. Ages 18 and up require full-seal eye protection, with face protection recommended. A red dead rag is required for all players and can be purchased at the field if needed. Weapon guidelines include using only approved BBs in rentals, a maximum of 25 rounds per second, and specific class limits. Pistols must be under 1.45 joules with .20 BBs, with no minimum engagement distance on semi and a 25-foot minimum on full auto. Shotguns must be under 1.45 joules with .20, with no minimum on semi and a 50-foot minimum on full auto. Rifles are limited to 1.5 joules with .20 for AEGs and 1.55 joules with .32 for HPA; semi typically has a 10-foot minimum, and full auto is allowed only when specified. SMGs must be 1 joule or below with .20, use mid-cap magazines, have no minimum on semi, and a 25-foot minimum on full auto, and must be a true SMG or fully automatic platform. LMGs must be under 1.5 joules with .20, use burst with a 25-foot minimum, and full auto with a 50-foot minimum, and should be true LMG platforms. DMRs are capped at 2.0 joules with .20, are semi-only with a 75-foot minimum and use mid-cap or real-cap magazines. Sniper rifles are bolt action, must be under 2.25 joules with .20, and have a 100-foot minimum engagement distance. These standards keep games energetic, fair, and safe for everyone on the field.

A drive through option at the Friends Recycling Center, operated by the Marion County Children’s Alliance, does not require registration, and the student must be in the vehicle to be served. The Entry package is $25 and includes a Mod-M or L AEG, a high cap magazine, a bag of 1000 Valken .20 BBs, a 9.6 lithium battery, and an M1-3 thermal mask. The Advanced package is $45 and includes a Kilo or Tango AEG, two high cap magazines, a bottle of 2200 STRYKER .25 BBs, a 7.4 lipo battery, an M1-7 thermal mask, and a STRYKER chest rig. Add-ons include a 9.6 lithium battery for $10, an M1-3 thermal mask for $10, a high cap magazine for $5, and a STRYKER chest rig for $20. Safety and fair play are the priority. Full seal eye protection rated ANSI z87.1 or higher is required on the field at all times. Keep masks and eye protection on while in play. Call your hits and use a red dead rag, then head to respawn. Blind firing is not allowed. Field structures must not be moved, altered, or jumped over. If there is a concern with another player, speak to a referee rather than arguing. Referees announce firing modes for each round and have the final say. A game clock is posted in the WZA store and a countdown is announced before heading out, and those who miss the briefing will need to wait for the next round. All replicas must pass chrono and receive a tag before play, with random checks during the day. Report suspected hot guns to a referee. Only approved pyrotechnic and smoke devices sold at the field may be used and only in designated areas. Once a device leaves a player’s hand, do not pick it up, kick it, or cover it. In the safe zone, clear your replica, remove the magazine, and switch to safe before taking off protective gear. Age and gear guidelines apply. Players ages 10 to 15 must wear full face masks. Players 16 to 17 must use full seal eye protection and mesh or plastic lower face protection. Players 18 and older must use full seal eye protection, with face protection recommended. A red dead rag is required for everyone. Rentals must use approved BBs or BBs purchased at the field. Chronograph standards are .32 for HPA and .20 for pistols, AEGs, and spring powered replicas. Rate of fire is capped at 25 rounds per second. Before entering the safe zone, remove magazines and fire at least three rounds into a safe direction to clear the barrel. Weapon class limits are enforced. Pistols must be at or below 1.45 joules with .20 BBs. Semi auto pistols have no minimum engagement distance, while full auto pistol use requires a 25 foot minimum. Shotguns must be at or below 1.45 joules with .20 BBs. Semi auto shotguns have no minimum engagement distance, while full auto use requires 50 feet. Rifles must meet 1.5 joules or less with .20 BBs for AEGs and 1.55 joules with .32 BBs for HPA. Semi auto rifle play typically carries a 10 foot minimum unless a head referee states otherwise, and full auto is only allowed in specific games and is rarely used. SMGs must be 1 joule or lower with .20 BBs, use mid caps, have no minimum engagement in semi, and 25 feet in full auto. They must be true SMG platforms or a fully automatic pistol platform such as a Glock 18, with examples including the MP7, MP5, UMP, PP-19 Bizon, MAC-10, Thompson SMG, and ARP-9. LMGs must be below 1.5 joules with .20 BBs. Burst fire requires 25 feet, full auto requires 50 feet, and continuous walking fire is not allowed unless the LMG can also fire semi. Examples include the M249 SAW, MK46, Stoner, Krytac LMG, RPK, CM16 LMG, and RPD. DMRs must be under 2.0 joules with .20 BBs, are semi only, have a 75 foot minimum, and use mid cap or real cap magazines, with platforms such as SR25, M14 series, SVD, and M1 Garand. Sniper rifles must be under 2.25 joules with .20 BBs, be bolt action, are semi only, and have a 100 foot minimum, with platforms like L96, M700, and M24. Grenade rules are straightforward. Only pyrotechnic and smoke grenades sold at the field are permitted and only where specified. Homemade devices are not allowed. Grenades must be tossed underhand, not thrown directly at players, though lobbing into windows is allowed. The effective radius is 15 feet. Hard cover counts only in milsim scenarios. Any detonation in a room eliminates all players inside. The goal is safe, fair, and exciting airsoft with clear expectations for players of all levels.
