South-West Florida Classic Youth Double Eliminator October 2026
Merritt Island · Shore Lanes Merritt Island, 600 N Courtenay Pkwy
Read moreRead lessA USBC certified youth bowling tournament comes to Shore Lanes Merritt Island in Merritt Island, Florida, following current USBC rules where SWFC rules are not specific. Participation is open to USBC Youth Division and Adult Division sanctioned members in good standing who are 21 or younger as of January 1 of the current year, with PBA card holders from National or Regional tours not eligible to compete. The field is capped at 60 bowlers, and pre registration is required through the event website. The entry fee is set for pre registered bowlers, with an additional charge for walk ins, and there is a separate fee for the optional Junior Gold qualifier. Competition is split into two average based divisions regardless of age. Division 1 includes bowlers with Sport averages of 172 and below or Non Sport averages of 199 and below, and all competitors in this group receive handicap. Division 2 includes Sport averages of 173 and above or Non Sport averages of 200 and above, and this group bowls scratch. Bowlers may choose to move up to the scratch division if they notify the tournament director before the first ball is thrown. Once competition begins, division placement is locked unless an obvious error is identified, and the tournament director may adjust divisions as needed based on entries. The dress code requires a collared or mock collared shirt or a USBC Youth shirt, with no sleeveless tops permitted. Shorts, jeans, denim, leggings, yoga pants, or athletic wear are not allowed, and pants may not have exterior cargo pockets. Male participants must wear slacks with a zipper and button, with no drawstrings or elastic ankles. Female participants may wear slacks or skirts that extend below the fingertips when standing with arms at the sides, and skirts may not be adjusted to be shorter during competition. Headgear and sunglasses are not permitted while practicing or competing. Male bowlers may only wear headgear with written approval secured before the event. Headphones are not allowed at any time a bowler is on the approach or in the bowler’s circle. The format begins with five qualifying games spread across ten lanes, after which earlier scores do not carry forward. The top eight in each division advance to bracket play for one game matches, where total pins with handicap decide each winner. A double elimination structure is used, with all players starting in the winners bracket, moving to the contenders bracket after one loss, and leaving the tournament after a second loss. The finals place the top three in each division into a stepladder round, and double elimination no longer applies at that stage. For questions, contact Tournament Director Mark Michel at 813 486 2641 or mark.michel@southwestfloridaclassic.com.
