Stay Buried - An Evening with Jennifer McMahon

    2153 1st Ave S, St Petersburg · verified Aug 2
    See details

Tombolo Books hosts local author Jennifer McMahon for the launch of Stay Buried, her newest horror novel. The book blends queer folk horror with a search for the truth as a woman confronts long-guarded secrets and superstition surrounding her mother’s death. Spanning Boone’s Ferry, Vermont across two eras, the story follows Frankie O’Massey in 1919 as she studies medicine with her uncle, Dr. Thomas Endicott, and investigates a strange sickness while townspeople point to supernatural causes. Early clues lead to the town’s knackerman, a solitary figure who gathers dead and dying farm animals for their parts. In 2016, siblings Ashley and Malcolm inherit a property in Boone’s Ferry after their grandmother’s passing and travel to a place their family rarely discussed. Amid harvest décor, open farmland, and small-town charm, they encounter wary locals and unnerving customs, including seasonal offerings left for a vengeful spirit. McMahon is the author of twelve novels, including the New York Times bestsellers The Children on the Hill, Promise Not to Tell, and The Winter People, and she lives in Florida with her partner, Drea.
