Shell Yeah! Island Campout

Leave the mainland behind on a guided overnight paddle to Shell Key Preserve, where participants kayak from the Pinellas Bayway across Tampa Bay and camp on a quiet Gulf-side beach just steps from the water. Along the route, it is common to see dolphins, rays, and flocks of coastal birds. After landing, set up tents near the shore and unwind to the sounds of wind, waves, and wildlife. Evening brings time to wander long stretches of undeveloped sand, swim in clear water, and watch the sunset paint the sky. When night falls, enjoy stargazing under dark skies away from city glow. Wake to a calm island sunrise, sip coffee on the beach, and then paddle back feeling refreshed. This small group outing is led by experienced local guides. No kayak camping background is needed. Beginners are welcome, and the experience is designed to be supportive and safe, offering a castaway-style escape just minutes from St. Pete.

Penn & Teller

Penn & Teller bring a night of mind-bending illusions and quick-witted comedy from the legendary duo whose partnership began as Philadelphia street performers five decades ago and grew to acclaimed runs on New York stages. Their Off-Broadway breakthrough led to multiple Broadway engagements, recognition with an Obie and a Lucille Lortel Award, and a later return that became the top-grossing nonmusical of its run, even surpassing Hamilton for a week. Beyond Broadway, they present close to 300 live shows each year at major venues around the world, and their long-running residency at the Rio in Las Vegas has earned nine Las Vegas Magicians of the Year honors. On television, their CW series Penn & Teller: Fool Us invites rising and veteran magicians to try to outsmart them for a chance to appear in their Vegas show. The series received a Critics Choice nomination, has been renewed for an eleventh season, and is the longest continually running American magic program on TV. They have appeared across late-night, sitcoms, and animated favorites, created specials for NBC, ABC, PBS, and Comedy Central, and earned an Emmy, a Writers Guild Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Their Showtime series Penn & Teller: BS! drew 13 Emmy nominations and became the network’s longest-running series, using their trademark skepticism to probe subjects like alien abductions, psychics, and bottled water. St Pete Kung Fu Society: Open Martial Arts & Sparring Group (Donation Based Class)

This donation based class at North Shore Park transforms traditional Kung Fu forms into clear, practical skills. Training features partner drills, pad work, and full body conditioning, and every session closes with light, friendly sparring. With a serious approach to practice and a playful spirit, the St. Pete Kung Fu Society emphasizes honest self expression over ranks or titles and a deeper connection to movement and nature. Grounded in ancestral wisdom and flexible in method, participants aim to stay rooted while adapting with ease. The practice blends internal arts with modern insight, building qi and testing principles in the realities of sparring and everyday life. Ideas that do not hold up are released, and the weight of ego is left at the door so movement can be lighter and freer, like water finding its way through small openings. Together the group explores how to be soft yet strong, when to crash through and when to flow around challenges in life, love, and community. The intention is personal growth, closer ties to the natural world, greater understanding within families, and a steadier peace within.

Participants share excerpts from original work for short films, features, or television, assign parts for others to read, and receive timed feedback. Writers typically begin with a logline or brief setup, may bring outlines or treatments instead of pages, and provide enough copies for each speaking role. Feedback is kept to a few minutes per person and comments are often written so the writer can review them later, with extended discussions continuing after the meeting. Actors are welcome to read and offer insights, while the emphasis remains on supporting writers and their craft. FOGHAT and NAZARETH

Foghat and Nazareth share the stage at Ferg's Sports Bar & Grill for a co-headlining classic rock showcase from two enduring acts. Founded in 1971, Foghat made its name with a blues-driven boogie sound. Fool for the City reached double platinum on the strength of the anthem Slow Ride, and years of heavy touring brought nine gold records in the United States plus two double platinum albums. The band’s self-titled debut, along with Energized and Night Shift, also earned gold status. Hailing from Dunfermline, Scotland, Nazareth broke through in the 1970s with gritty hard rock and memorable hooks. Hair of the Dog went multi-platinum, propelled by Love Hurts, which climbed into the U.S. Top 10 and charted around the world. Across their career they have amassed more than 20 gold and platinum awards on multiple continents, with Razamanaz and Close Enough for Rock n Roll among their gold-certified releases. This stop brings full sets from both groups, with the chance of onstage collaborations and deep cuts from their catalogs. Signature songs may show up, including Foghat favorites like Slow Ride, Fool for the City, and I Just Want to Make Love to You, alongside Nazareth staples such as Hair of the Dog, Love Hurts, and This Flight Tonight. Picturing Paradise: From John James Audubon to the Florida Highwaymen

Florida’s scenery has sparked the imagination of artists for centuries, from naturalists Titian Ramsay Peale and John James Audubon who sought native plants and animals to later figures such as Harriet Beecher Stowe, Martin Johnson Heade, George Inness, Winslow Homer, and Henry Ossawa Tanner, all drawn by the state’s beauty and warm climate. This presentation offers a concise and engaging history of Florida landscape painting. Keri Watson is an associate professor of art history at the University of Central Florida and co-executive editor for Panorama: Journal of the Association of Historians of American Art. She is the author of This is America: Re-Viewing the Art of the United States (2023) and editor of the Routledge Companion to Art and Disability (2022).
