    Niki in the Garden

Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta · verified Aug 23
    See details

To mark the Garden’s 50th year, an encore exhibition of Niki de Saint Phalle’s monumental sculptures returns to the grounds, revisiting a landmark presentation from two decades ago. More than 40 works by the pioneering French sculptor, including her playful, brightly colored Nanas and other fantastical figures, are installed across the site. The exhibition features 41 pieces that are believed to be the largest presentation of the artist’s work in North America, with most on loan from the Niki Charitable Art Foundation and additional works from private collections. The scale ranges widely, from Grand Step Totem at roughly 2,000 pounds and the towering Large Yelling Man at 16.5 feet to compact wall reliefs measuring about two feet square. Installations are placed throughout the Garden, the Conservatory, the Orchid Center, and the Gardenhouse Gallery, with The Three Graces animating the Skyline Garden pond. An interpretive display about the artist and her practice is located near the entrance to the Orchid Display House. Entry to the exhibition is included with regular Garden admission.
