An interactive Jazz Talk with Kennesaw State University professor and guitarist Trey Wright, presented in partnership with the Jazz At The Strand series, explores A Love Supreme and the enduring music of John Coltrane. Admission includes one drink ticket, seating is limited to 30 guests, and all attendees must be 21 or older. The series continues with topics such as Joni Mitchell’s jazz years, the foundations of the bass with guest bassist Tim Aucoin, and Charlie Christian’s role in the evolution of jazz guitar. Wright is a Roswell, Georgia based jazz guitarist, composer, and recording artist. He first gained notice with the Athens quartet Squat, a group that earned Best Jazz Band honors six times at the Flagpole Athens Music Awards and appeared at festivals including the Atlanta Jazz Festival. His compositions have reached international audiences and have been heard on Sirius and on NPR’s All Things Considered. He has performed with artists such as Jimmy Haslip, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Corey Christiansen, and Darmon Meader, and has taken the stage at events like the Montreux Jazz Festival and Jazz à Vienne, as well as festivals in Morocco, India, and Italy. In addition to performing with the Georgia Symphony Jazz Orchestra, he teaches jazz guitar and related subjects at Kennesaw State University. His recordings include albums like Where I’m Calling From, Thinking Out Loud, The Hibbard/Wright Project, and Songs From Oak Avenue, with recognition that has included first round Grammy consideration.

Demon King brings its first Atlanta performance to 529 EAV as part of a summer tour with Deathless. The night includes hometown support from Planetary Ghost and Spectria. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

The Detroit-born, New York-raised singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist first reached a broad audience with Infinity Song, the soft rock and soul group she started with her siblings, releasing favorites like Haters Anthem, Slow Burn, and Sinking Boat, with Haters Anthem written and produced by Boyd. Her journey has included collaborating with Jon Batiste at Carnegie Hall during the premiere of American Symphony, stepping out solo in 2025 with American Love Song alongside a New York string quartet, and contributing in 2026 to Baby Keem’s Ca$ino on the track Good Flirts after being tapped by music director Dave Free. Recognized for a smooth, expressive tone, she draws comparisons to Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Nina Simone, and her work weaves soul, R&B, rock, gospel, and jazz into a personal, modern sound. Inspirations include Ella Fitzgerald, Lauryn Hill, Donny Hathaway, Solange, Tyler, the Creator, Beyoncé, Geese, SZA, Lana Del Rey, and her sister Victory Boyd. Performing since childhood and skilled on guitar and bass, Boyd approaches music as a way to foster empathy, healing, and a sense of belonging.
