    See details

At The Carter Center in Atlanta, Yotam Ottolenghi takes the stage for an intimate and energizing conversation celebrating his forthcoming Fall 2026 cookbook, SIMPLE TOO, the follow-up to his bestselling Ottolenghi Simple. He shares how this new collection grew from real life in a busy world, with recipes that work with you so you can start with half a plan and still end with a deeply satisfying meal. Expect laughter, honesty, and his signature spark as he proclaims, “The lemon is back!” and explains why bold flavor remains central to simplicity. Drawing from the book’s themes, he explores ingredients and techniques that shape the recipes, including simply dressed beans, black chickpeas, generous sesame, sweet and spicy balances, pasta cooked directly in its sauce, and whole meals roasted start to finish on a single tray for far less washing up. He also introduces the “Fundamentals” chapter, a set of fridge-ready flavor builders like spring onion oil, green salsa, za’atar oil, confit tomatoes, and chilli crisp. Through stories from the writing process with co-author Verena Lochmuller, along with practical tips and reflections on finding joy in cooking even when you are tired, he shows how SIMPLE TOO is about making everyday cooking feel generous, achievable, and full of joy. Yotam Ottolenghi is a leading voice in contemporary food, known for vibrant, vegetable-forward cuisine and an imaginative approach to everyday cooking. Born in Jerusalem and based in London, he is the author of acclaimed books including Plenty, Jerusalem, Simple, Flavor, and Sweet, and his work extends to delis and restaurants where bold combinations, fresh produce, and multicultural influences meet.

Brook Run Amphitheater sets the scene for a community evening filled with live music, food trucks, giveaways, and more. Attendees can bring lawn chairs, grab a bite, and dance under the stars with neighbors. The headliner is Slippery When Wet, a Bon Jovi tribute led by Jason Morey, whose close resemblance to Jon Bon Jovi inspired the band after repeated cases of mistaken identity, including a backstage invite from Dave Chappelle. Their show is built on the live arrangements from Bon Jovi’s Crush, Bounce, Have a Nice Day, Lost Highway, and The Circle tours, aiming to bring arena-level energy to any stage. Drawing on a song catalog known for sing-along anthems and cross-generational appeal, they focus on recreating the feel of a Bon Jovi concert. Slippery When Wet has performed at more than 2,300 shows across the United States and internationally, including appearances in Africa, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Anguilla, Spain, and the Dominican Republic. The band has headlined on over 60 Royal Caribbean cruises and played the pregame at a Super Bowl in East Rutherford, New Jersey. They have been officially authorized by Bon Jovi to present their show, are among the most searched and most viewed Bon Jovi tribute acts online, and have earned spots with Legends in Concert in Las Vegas, on the Runaway to Paradise cruises with Jon Bon Jovi, and as a finalist on Jimmy Fallon’s Clash of the Cover Bands on E!.

    Russian Circles

Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave, Atlanta · verified Oct 2
    See details

Variety Playhouse hosts an all-ages performance featuring Russian Circles with Pelican. The Chicago-based instrumental trio of Mike Sullivan, Dave Turncrantz, and Brian Cook has spent more than two decades shaping a distinct sound that folds together influences from Midwest Touch & Go alumni, classic progressive rock, hypnotic motorik and kosmische pulses, and the harsher edges of metal. Known for consistency and craft rather than hit singles, they deliver immersive heavy music built on tension, release, and precise dynamics. Their recent album Nine reflects a steady refinement of that approach, with basic tracks recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago and finishing work with engineer Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio in Massachusetts. The record spans the stark churn of Borehole, the concentrated onslaught of Empath, and the patient rise of Eluvial, then widens the palette with the pulsing E2, the forward momentum of Meridian, and the light and dark contrast of Arletta and Seventh Seal. An all-ages bill pairing Russian Circles’ expansive instrumentals with Pelican at Variety Playhouse.
