Freedom from Smoking Clinic — July and August Session
AdventHealth Gordon offers a Freedom from Smoking Clinic designed to help build a lasting life without tobacco. This eight-session program spans seven weeks and provides step-by-step guidance to make quitting more manageable. Participants explore how to tell when they are ready to quit, how medications can boost success, ways to prepare for a quit day, and strategies for handling stress, managing weight, and maintaining a tobacco-free lifestyle over the long term. Sessions take place at AdventHealth Harris Radiation Therapy Center, and dinner or snacks are provided at each meeting. Smoking is not permitted on the AdventHealth Gordon campus. Downtown Calhoun Farmers’ Market
Located in Downtown Calhoun City Park, the Downtown Calhoun Farmers’ Market brings together area farmers, food growers, and small businesses with the community in a welcoming setting. Shoppers can find seasonal produce, meats, eggs, local honey, jams and jellies, artisan cheeses, baked goods, coffee and tea, fresh-cut flowers, and other handmade or home-crafted items. The market supports the local agricultural economy and operates rain or shine. This year’s market is supported by AgGeorgia Farm Credit and the Gordon County Farm Bureau.

Downtown Calhoun Farmers Market75th Anniversary Diamond Dig
Family Savings Credit Union is marking its 75th Anniversary with a traveling Diamond Dig series across Alabama and Georgia, and this stop brings the celebration to Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. A specially built dig trailer filled with sand and soil will be on site, giving registered participants a chance to uncover prizes, including a real diamond necklace valued at nearly $1,000 at each event. On-site registration is available, and the first 30 eligible participants to register will receive a ticket with a scheduled dig slot. Each person may search for one diamond-shaped prize capsule, with a limit of one prize per participant. Prizes may include cash, gift cards, jewelry, Family Savings Credit Union merchandise, and more. Beyond the dig, the event features family-friendly activities such as balloon animals, face painting, a 360 photo booth, jumpy houses, a DJ with music, and food trucks with items available for purchase. The celebration recognizes 75 years of service and expresses gratitude to the communities that have supported Family Savings Credit Union.
