Resurrection brings its celebrated salute to Journey to Friends of Calhoun's GEM Theatre. Since 2014, the band has become a benchmark among Journey tributes, touring in nearly 40 states and even performing for 40,000 Chicago White Sox fans during the ballclub’s celebration of its 2005 World Series championship. Along the way, the group has built a Facebook community of around 53,000, the largest following among Journey tribute acts. After seeking a new lead singer at the end of 2022, the band hosted a showcase at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley where eight vocalists shared the set. Audience reaction singled out Bryan Cole, who stepped into the role soon after. Within two weeks he led a nearly two hour set of Journey favorites at The Maryland Theatre, igniting the room with “Any Way You Want It” and stretching into “Only The Young” before bandleader Vic White introduced him to immediate applause. With Bryan at the mic, Resurrection launched the Still They Ride tour, adding songs the band had not featured on previous runs. Crowds have continued to fill venues, re-bookings have followed, and feedback from audiences and presenters has been consistently enthusiastic. Expect a faithful, high-energy celebration of Journey’s catalog delivered by a band known for precision, passion, and staying power.

A three day painting workshop with artist Johanne Mangi at Booth Art Academy focuses on the art of portraying dogs. Participants explore methods for conveying motion to bring greater energy and flexibility to their portraits, with content refreshed regularly so returning students encounter new approaches. Live dog models inspire the work, and the schedule features frequent demonstrations along with plenty of guided painting time. The first session starts with engaging exercises, then each day builds on what came before. A limited palette is used to accelerate progress before moving into a full range of color. The atmosphere is upbeat and productive, blending serious skill building with a welcoming studio vibe. Tuition is $500 for museum members and $575 for non members. Enrollment requires a minimum of 8 students and is capped at 16.

This family-friendly play shares the storytelling traditions of the Cherokee people through a collection of lively tales. Audiences follow origin stories that touch on the beginning of the world and explore why the plants and animals around us look and act the way they do. Developed in partnership with the Cherokee Historical Association, the production offers an engaging introduction for children to Cherokee history and perspectives. It also provides a meaningful way to recognize National Native American Heritage Month.

Set at Pepperell High School, this taekwondo tournament features Daedo sparring for black belts and trigger-scored bouts for color belts. Forms will be contested in a bracketed double-elimination format across all belts, and board breaking is available to competitors of every rank. Trained referees will staff the rings, with at least two IRs in each. Further details will be announced.

Returning for a second year at Rocky Hollow Patch, this Christmas market celebrates small-town holiday magic in the holler. Visitors can visit with Santa, browse booths from local vendors for distinctive gifts, and enjoy kid-focused holiday activities. Magnolia Magic Holiday Market brings two days of seasonal cheer to the Forum River Center in downtown Rome, Georgia. Presented by Shottenkirk of Rome, this is billed as the city’s only all-indoor Christmas market and admission is free. Highlights include hot cocoa, a walk-through display of decorated trees sponsored by Icicle Mountain Christmas Trees, a cookie competition for home bakers, and plenty of chances to show off festive attire from the ugliest sweaters to characters like an elf or the Grinch. Children have a dedicated gift-crafting area to make presents, and attendees can help select the best decorated vendor booth. The market showcases local businesses, artisans and nonprofits, offering distinctive gifts, sweet treats and a family-friendly holiday atmosphere.

SLAR’s Let’s Keep Gordon Warm is a free community gathering filled with festive fun and friendly faces. Guests can meet Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, Frosty, the Grinch, and the Abominable Snowman, then capture the moment with complimentary professional photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
