This second annual fundraiser offers an evening at the historic homestead where Joseph F. Glidden created “The Winner” barbed wire, a breakthrough that reshaped the American West. Guests can enjoy live music from the popular local band Bend in the Road, take guided tours of the Glidden House and Barn, and savor food and desserts. A themed scavenger hunt pays tribute to barbed wire baron Jacob Haish on his 200th birthday, and unique raffle prizes add to the experience. Proceeds support the preservation and ongoing operations of this landmark, with fresh updates on the barn restoration and a few surprises also in store.

Learn and refine percussion skills at The Music Connection, LLC in Sycamore with guided instruction covering rudimental techniques, drum set, mallet percussion, and more. Music and instruments are provided on site, and participants are asked to bring their own sticks and ear protection. The fee is 20 dollars per student, payable upon arrival by cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal, and it covers materials, instruments, and staff instruction. Friends and family are welcome to attend. The journey moves through Middle Earth, blending sweeping themes from the trilogy with Zeppelin’s mystical ballads, and it also features original songs from the band’s 2025 debut. Narration, costumes, and vivid projected visuals carry the narrative, inviting listeners into an imaginative quest set to immersive, dynamic music. Since forming in 2021, Knorrwood has shared stages with Trampled by Turtles, Leftover Salmon, Moe., and Consider the Source. Their sound combines acoustic inventiveness, cinematic soundscapes, and driving rhythms, with theremin flourishes and distinctive vocals shaping an earthy, otherworldly atmosphere.
