Learn from the Experts: Bumblebees of Kane County
Explore the surprising diversity of bumblebees in Illinois, where twelve species in the genus Bombus support the health of prairies and woodlands. This Learn from the Experts class starts indoors with an introduction to identification, ecological roles, and ongoing conservation efforts, then moves outside to the prairie to look for different species at work. The program is intended for adults ages 18 and up and takes place at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve. The fee is $10 per person and advance registration is required. Part of the Learn from the Experts series on local ecology, this class is sponsored by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, the St. Charles Park District, and the Geneva Park District, and is taught by agency staff or other experts. Online registration is not available for Kane County Certified Naturalist discount registrants.
