Creative stations invite kids to make a pirate hat, paint a small treasure chest, and take part in a trade-themed hunt, or simply keep bouncing. The active attractions run for most of the gathering, then wind down near the end to make transitions easier. Children of all ages are welcome, though the setup is especially suited to those 10 and younger because of the inflatable’s size and the presence of other children. Please bring snacks, water bottles, and anything else your crew might need. On-site amenities include bathrooms, changing tables, and a microwave, and parents can relax over coffee and conversation while the kids play. Give stained or tired clothes a second life in a hands-on ice dyeing class that uses melting ice to create playful, organic designs. On the first day, participants prepare their fabric and begin the dye process with guidance on different folds, ties, twists, and clips to shape the patterns, and there are more than 20 colors to choose from. Projects rest for 24 hours, then participants return the following day to finish by rinsing multiple times, washing, letting the dyes set, and doing a final rinse... rinse day can take a bit longer. The $32 fee covers dyeing as many items as will fit in a 10 x 12 inch tub, often about three shirts, with room for more if pieces are smaller like tank tops or socks. Plan to drop off items at least two hours before class so they can be washed in textile soap, or prewash at home if you have the right detergent. Cotton fabric works especially well, and blank shirts can come from retailers such as Michaels, Target, or Kohl's, or straight from your closet. Bring a dust mask for dye application. Gloves will be available, though you may bring your own, and wear clothing that can get messy. This is a two day class with creative work on day one and finishing on day two.

This CERT training consists of a series of classes for the Orland Township community. Advance registration is required, and participants must complete the entire schedule to earn certification. Dinner is provided at each class to help everyone stay energized. The program is open to adults 18 and older who live or work in Orland Township. After finishing the course, graduates can volunteer with the CERT group, assisting with traffic management, community events, and emergency responses.

Now celebrating 36 years, The Greatest Ferret Show On Earth, also known as GFSOE, is the longest running ferret show in the U.S. Exhibitors from near and far present their ferrets in judged classes that consider color, pattern, and structure. This gathering is the largest yearly fundraiser for the Greater Chicago Ferret Association, with all proceeds supporting homeless ferrets cared for by the GCFA Shelter, founded in 1987. Over the years the organization has rescued more than 10,000 ferrets, and each year approximately 250 to 350 arrive through rescue or relinquishment. Every ferret is welcome. Ferrets entering the show hall must have proof of a distemper vaccination or titer within the previous year. A rabies vaccination is recommended but not required, and ADV testing is not required. The show is not sanctioned by the American Ferret Association, so placements and points earned here do not count toward the AFA Points System or AFA Ferret of the Year.
