The District’s next Shop Local Saturday features Summer Sidewalk Sales presented by First Bankers Trust, offering a shopping experience that goes beyond the usual trip as summer winds down and back-to-school needs ramp up. Sale offerings and hours are set by each participating business, so every stop can be a little different. Along with retail shops, coffee shops, cafés, and restaurants in the area are encouraged to add their own specials, creating a lively day of deals and promotions throughout the heart of Quincy. This event is part of a series of themed Shop Local Saturdays held throughout the year, including occasions centered on Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, back-to-school season, Shop Small Saturday, and the holidays. Spanning 92 blocks, The District is home to small businesses that provide one-of-a-kind finds and friendly service while supporting jobs and a strong local economy. Whether picking up produce, browsing unique boutiques, or grabbing a coffee, every purchase helps keep the community thriving. Explore downtown Quincy on a guided walking food tour that celebrates seasonal flavors. Local chefs showcase brunch and lunch specialties paired with house made coffee, cocktails, and beer. The experience begins at Electric Fountain Brewing and winds through the Downtown District while a Food Ambassador shares colorful insights. Along the way, the itinerary can include Electric Fountain Brewing, 8te Open, Shandi’s, On the Rail Sports Bar & Grill, Maestros, and Wine Gal Meets Whiskey Guy, plus a stroll through the Farmers Market and visits to a few boutique shops. Tickets are $60 per person and include all food and the tour. These tours take place rain or shine, and capacity is limited.

The annual DJ Venvertloh Memorial Golf Tournament returns to Spring Lake Country Club in Quincy, IL. Golfers can form a foursome and register to take part. The day features registration, lunch, and a shotgun start on the course.

Bring your friends for a competitive LEGO challenge at the Quincy Library. Tweens ages 7 to 12 will build during the Build Challenge window, with judging beginning at 3:15 PM and prizes awarded for first, second, and third place. After the challenge, there will be time for free building and coding your own creation using the Spike Kits.

Prospect Camp is a women’s basketball NAIA prospect and ID camp for incoming high school freshmen through seniors. It’s free to attend and is hosted by the Culver-Stockton College coaching staff. Ages 13 to 19 are welcome, and interested families can reach out to Coach Thomas with questions.

An auction and vendor shopping event raising funds for No-Limits Ministry features more than 40 items to bid on along with multiple vendors to explore. Guests can bring friends and their own food. It takes place in the Eagles Main Building. The bar will be open with drinks and pizza available for purchase. Bring quarters.

The West Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging sponsors a collaborative Empowered Aging series at Quincy Worx - Co-working & Meeting Space. Created to build confidence and independence, this program offers practical tools, expert insights, and meaningful conversations that help people take charge of their aging journey. Attendees can learn and connect, then leave feeling informed, energized, and ready for what comes next at every stage of life. Aging is framed not as slowing down, but as moving forward with confidence.

This Taco Tuesday group mountain bike ride is hosted by the Quincy Mt. Bike Group. Arrive a little early for a pre-ride session on the Nature Trails East Flow Trails, then enjoy an evening of riding followed by tacos. Everyone is welcome, from first-timers to seasoned riders, and participants can show newcomers around. Helmets are required. If it is raining or the trails are wet, the ride will be canceled. After the ride, the group will vote on where to go for tacos.

Preschool Playtime is an open-gym session designed for children six and under to move, explore, and build gross motor skills in a playful setting. Families can come and go as they wish, making it easy to fit into a busy day. The atmosphere encourages exercise and social interaction for little ones, while caregivers can meet up with friends and enjoy coffee nearby. Admission is $9 per child. After an active playtime, many children are ready for a nap, which can make the ride home a bit quieter.

Preschool Time is a free, 45-minute storytime-style program with thematic books, music, and more. It’s geared toward children ages 3 and up, and reservations are required because space is limited. Registration is required and will close on August 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM.

At the Banned Books Book Club, readers gather for conversation around some of the most popular banned books. Light refreshments will be available.
