    Waukegan Concealed Carry Part 1

    Build the foundations for responsible pistol ownership and accurate shooting in a minimum eight-hour course that combines classroom instruction with range time. Training covers safe handling practices, pistol components and operation, ammunition basics, shooting fundamentals, range rules, one- and two-hand positions, and guidance on cleaning, maintenance, and secure storage for firearms and ammunition. Proper techniques for both revolvers and semi-automatic handguns are included. Completion applies to the initial eight hours of the sixteen-hour Illinois Concealed Carry requirement and also fulfills the training standard for the Florida non-resident concealed carry permit. Florida non-resident permit application packets are provided to participants. The fee is $125.

    Waukegan Concealed Carry Part 2

    This Illinois Concealed Carry Part 2 course fulfills the second 8 hours of the 16 hour training requirement for an Illinois Concealed Carry License. Participants receive instruction on state laws governing concealed carry and the lawful use of deadly force in defense of yourself, your home, property, and family. Training blends classroom learning with range practice that includes drawing from a holster, guided by an NRA and Illinois certified instructor who covers responsible carry and safe, efficient draws from concealment. The material also explores how carrying a concealed firearm can influence daily routines and provides practical tools to navigate that change. An Illinois CCL is valid for five years and is recognized in 25 states. The State of Illinois requires veterans with a DD214 to complete the second 8 hours to apply. For this class, completion of Basic Pistol/CCL Part 1 is a prerequisite set by the organizer, and Red Dot Arms offers Part 1 at no charge to all DD214 holders and current serving military. Tuition for Part 2 is $125.

The route follows a mostly flat gravel path with very little shade, heading south along the Millennium Trail to a historic train bridge built by former landowner J. Ogden Armour. It is about 1.3 miles to the bridge, and the return includes a short side loop to view the underside of the structure, making the outing approximately 2.8 miles round trip. The starting area is located just south of the intersection of Route 43 and Route 176. A portable restroom is available at the entrance, and pets are allowed.

    Presented by RF39Productions, the fifth edition of Fosters Halloween Trick or Treat offers a candy filled celebration with complimentary popcorn and meals from C&J's, run by Charles and Juanita Black. Trunk or treat fun comes courtesy of Granny Betty's Daycare, and the yard features interactive décor along with an upgraded 14 foot spooky walk through tunnel. A professional photo backdrop and on site photography by K. Foster Photography make it easy to capture the moment, and a 360 photo booth from Deidra Woods of Just Face It Photobooths adds another way to record the memories. DJ Latarius Woods keeps the atmosphere lively, and a live creepy guest will interact with attendees. Marzell J. Jordan, known as Haze the Clown from Dungeon of Doom, is scheduled for a special appearance. Decorations are on display, and visitors may stroll the yard and take pictures. Surprise visitors could also appear for an extra fright.
