Creativity takes center stage at Bevier Park when the Waukegan Park District’s traveling Arts Park program brings free, hands-on artmaking for all ages. Try drawing, painting, mosaics, sculpture, and other projects designed to spark imagination, encourage self-expression, and connect neighbors through the arts. No preregistration is required. The program receives grant support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, whose mission is to strengthen, connect, and enrich Illinois through the arts. Honored with the Arts in the Park Award from the Illinois Association of Park Districts, Arts Park reflects research from the National Recreation and Park Association showing that creative activities build confidence, improve expression, enhance problem solving, inspire innovation, and foster community for participants of every age.

Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters bring the Morro Rock Tour to Genesee Theatre in celebration of their forthcoming album, In The Bay. Formed in 2006 by singer songwriter and actor Billy Bob Thornton with Grammy Award winning sound engineer J.D. Andrew, the band has built a dedicated global following and a catalog that now spans 21 albums. They have toured alongside rock mainstays including ZZ Top, Steve Miller and George Thorogood, and became only the third opening act ever for The Who to receive a standing ovation. Written entirely in Morro Bay, California, In The Bay features instrumentation with a strong pop influence inspired by The Beach Boys, while also reflecting the group’s enduring admiration for The Beatles and The Byrds. CECG: Supercars for Charity Lakefront Edition Ep.5

Now in its fifth year at the lakefront, this exclusive car show offers a relaxing escape from the bustle of the city or a busy workday, set in a scenic waterfront setting with an emphasis on standout automobiles. Entry is by donation at the door to the Kitties Warriors Foundation, with no online tickets available. One hundred percent of donations go directly to this 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping cancer patients financially. Event parking will close the half circle in front of Harbor Brewing Co. Lakefront Biergarten for show cars. Parking is first come, first served, all cars are welcome, supercars receive priority, and overflow will use the grass parking next to the venue. For safety, revving, burnouts, and unsafe driving when leaving are not permitted. Police will be at the event and will ticket violations.

Hot Pilates After Dark is a 1-hour, high-energy heated workout with dance club vibes designed for singles. La Cantina Take over On the Rocks every other Thursday

La Cantina brings DJs to On The Rocks every other Thursday night throughout the season, set along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Each edition features different food trucks, plus a full-service cash bar, fire pits, and tables. Guests may bring their own chairs for added comfort while enjoying the music and the waterfront setting. The venue is cash only with an ATM available on site. Parking is free and there is no cover. ArtWauk brings a free live concert to Stern’s Plaza in downtown Waukegan featuring blues artist Omar Coleman. A West Side of Chicago native celebrated for soulful vocals and searing harmonica, he delivers an authentic sound that has reached audiences from his hometown to San Francisco and stages in France and Brazil. Recognized by Living Blues Magazine with a nomination for Most Outstanding Musician, he recently joined Color Red Music and collaborated with acclaimed producer Eddie Roberts of the New Mastersounds to shape a modern blues groove. Potawatomi Trails Pow Wow

Festivities begin with an early opening for vendor browsing so attendees can explore a variety of items before the first grand entry. The following full day features dancing, singing, a raffle, an auction, laughter, and the many traditions this pow wow brings to the community. Two grand entries take place that day with a dinner break in between. The closing day includes a grand entry, preceded by a Veterans Talking Circle led by Wamblee Loux. A traditional giveaway honors everyone who helped, including spectators, with items for all ages as a thank you to the community. Throughout the weekend, speakers and demonstrators share teachings about culture and traditions. Dancers from every category are welcome, and showcase songs give participants a chance to share their steps. Drum groups, from first-timers to seasoned singers, are welcome to take part. Community participation is encouraged, as the gathering is for the people.

Experience a royal celebration at the Greenbelt Cultural Center featuring beloved characters Elsa, Anna, Aurora, Belle, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Moana. Guests can choose from three themed sessions called the Dreamy Session, the Enchanted Session, and the Fairytale Session, and each one includes the same characters and activities. Highlights include a brief dance lesson led by a character to a favorite tune, a live singalong of a signature song, guaranteed meet and greets with every character with time for photos and conversation, and a lively dance party. Children are welcome to dress as their favorite character. Seating for parents is first come, first served, with front row seats reserved for one adult per VIP child. Food is not provided, and personal snacks and drinks are permitted during the session. Faith On The Fairway

Faith Lutheran Church, in partnership with the North Chicago Public Education Foundation (NCPEF), presents the sixth annual Faith on the Fairway charity golf outing at Foss Park Golf Course. Registration includes 18 holes of golf, a hole-in-one challenge with a chance to win $10,000, and a post-round reception and lunch followed by an awards banquet. Non-golfers may skip the course and attend the reception, lunch, and awards program after play. Proceeds support the Warhawk Lancer Futures Scholarship, which aims to provide full tuition and additional financial assistance for four semesters at the College of Lake County, helping graduates of North Chicago School District 187 thrive in college. Giving through this event also helps NCPEF meet its 501(c)(3) public support test, which expands the foundation’s ability to accept larger individual contributions.

Middle Fork Savanna County Forest Preserve

Adult Walking Club - GO Gurnee

Take a scenic walk with the GO Gurnee Walking Club at Middlefork Savanna Forest Preserve, also known as Elewa Farm. The route follows a mostly flat gravel path with very little shade, heading south along the Millennium Trail to a historic train bridge built by former landowner J. Ogden Armour. It is about 1.3 miles to the bridge, and the return includes a short side loop to view the underside of the structure, making the outing approximately 2.8 miles round trip. The starting area is located just south of the intersection of Route 43 and Route 176. A portable restroom is available at the entrance, and pets are allowed.
