Mamabear Dinner Party at Be Good Juicerie-Thai Fusion

An intimate Thai fusion dinner marks the relaunch of the monthly Mamabear Dinner Party series at Be Good Juicerie in Valparaiso. The space is set as a single, beautifully styled long table for only 10 guests, creating a cozy communal setting centered on connection, culture, and nourishment. This edition features five courses: Tom Yum soup; a salad flight with papaya salad, laab salad, and a fresh salad roll; a main course choice of green duck curry or tofu curry; sweet sticky rice with mango; and a beverage pairing of Thai iced coffee or a Be Good cold pressed juice mocktail. The menu is prepared with help from Thai friend Siri. Seating is very limited, and each month brings a new theme, cuisine, and experience with fresh, nourishing ingredients. The cost is 65 dollars per person with a prepaid reservation required, and the gathering is private and pre-ticketed.

Camp ToPeNeBee Spring Clean-Up

Volunteers will refresh the grounds at Camp ToPeNeBee during a hands-on clean up with projects suited for Scouts and Scouters of all ages, including pulling invasive plants, tightening bolts on picnic tables, and painting a building. Lunch is provided, and tools will be available on site. Participants should bring personal items such as a water bottle, a hat, and gloves if they have them. Quilted with Love

Enjoy a gentle springtime experience created for moms at Shared Vision Studio. Each session includes a 15-minute studio photoshoot photographed by both Ivey Images and Destane Marie Photography, plus coffee, a light snack, and a small gift bag. The aesthetic draws on nostalgic vintage quilt textures, offering a soft and timeless atmosphere. Participants receive 10 edited images with an option to upgrade, and each session comes with entry into a giveaway.

Weed Wrangle

At Rogers Lakewood Park, participants learn to recognize invasive plant species and gain practical methods for removing them in their own spaces. The event also supports efforts to keep the park natural. Students can earn service hours for Junior and National Honor Society or other groups. Open to all.

Exotic Animal Expo

An all-ages animal expo offers an interactive day of learning and discovery with exotic species and more. Visitors can talk with experienced breeders and animal specialists, ask questions, and get practical guidance on care, habitat design, bioactive setups, feeding, and responsible ownership. See a wide range of animals up close, including ball pythons and boa constrictors, hognose snakes, tarantulas and jumping spiders, scorpions, dart frogs and other exotic frogs, leopard, gargoyle and crested geckos, bearded dragons, silky chickens, isopods, and others. Shop from vendors carrying bioactive materials and supplies, enclosures, Tarantula Cribs, products from Pangea and Josh’s Frogs, live plants, feeders, and other specialty reptile gear. The experience is suited to curious kids, parents seeking an educational outing, students interested in biology, and hobbyists expanding their collections. Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under are admitted free. Some attendees may even find a new scaly or fuzzy companion.

Unplugged Day

Enjoy a day devoted to unplugged fun at Alley Kat's Curiosity Shoppe. Jessica of Zero Fox Studio and Kat of the Book Nook and Kids Unplugged will guide hands-on game and activity demonstrations, with a book swap for all ages and a free craft table available while supplies last. The schedule includes family board game demos, open game sessions, and open unplugged activity demos offered throughout the day. Sneak peeks of activities and updates to the plan will be shared ahead of time.

Backpacking Workshop

Join an Environmental Education Fellow for a hands-on workshop designed to help you prepare for outdoor adventures. Learn how to plan a backpacking trip, what gear is needed, and how to make your trip a success. Backpacking gear is not required. The workshop is intended for those with little to no backpacking experience, and participants should be prepared to sit through a semi-interactive lecture. Attendees should bring paper and a writing utensil. This event is for ages 14 and up; younger backpackers may attend with adult supervision. There is a fee to attend.

Rescued Metal Art - Beginner friendly welding and metal arts

Children's Aerial Yoga Workshop

This playful and gentle workshop introduces children ages 7 to 9 to aerial yoga using a soft fabric hammock suspended from the ceiling, inviting safe exploration of movement, balance, stretching, and the sensation of floating or flying. Led by Ohm certified aerial yoga instructor Jan Green, it features a gentle sequence in and out of the silks and opportunities to go upside down in a supported, safe way. Between activities, participants gather for a circle discussion on mindfulness and kindness to all living things, and a healthy snack is provided. Children are encouraged to wear long leggings or sweatpants and a comfortable T-shirt that is not too loose. The experience highlights benefits such as improved balance, healthy brain organization and regulation, increased strength, boosted confidence, better focus and attention, and growth in mindfulness skills. Cost is $35. Parents may drop off participants and take some time for themselves downtown.

Goat Walking

Walk alongside goats and take time to connect with the outdoors, with others, and with yourself. Anyone leading a goat must be at least 6 years old, while younger children may come with a parent or guardian without buying their own ticket. Tickets are purchased per goat, so select the number of goats you want to walk rather than the number of people attending. Each ticket is $5, and upon arrival at the farm you will receive a $5 Creme Cash certificate that can be applied to an in-store purchase of $25 or more made the same day.

Motherhood Together: Baby Bonding, Community & Calm

A calm, 90-minute gathering designed for new mothers focuses on slowing down, bonding with baby, and building meaningful connections. Spend unhurried time with your little one while learning gentle infant massage techniques that can support sleep, strengthen attachment, and nurture growing bodies. The experience then shifts into a relaxed, supportive conversation with other moms who understand the early months, and concludes with simple mindfulness tools that are practical for long nights, hard days, and everything in between. This event is intended for mothers with babies between 4 weeks and 6 months old. The cost is $44 per participating mother. Old Gold Whiskey Launch | Valparaiso University x Journeyman Distillery

A team of 20 College of Business students in the capstone marketing and entrepreneurship course taught by Clinical Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship Dushan Nikolovski, M.S., set out to craft a brand that reflects Valpo’s character and story, beginning with local businesses at the heart of the community. Partnering with Journeyman Distillery, a longtime Valparaiso presence, they created Old Gold. After months of market research, the students are unveiling Old Gold, the first whiskey to carry the Valparaiso University name. The official launch takes place at Journeyman Distillery in Valparaiso. Guests of all ages are welcome, Valpo students receive exclusive discounts, and raffles are part of the event.

Tall Cop: High in Plain Sight

This free program with Tall Cop, Jermaine Galloway, takes place at the Harre Union Ballroom at Valparaiso University and focuses on building awareness of local substance misuse risks and trends. "High in Plain Sight"

High in Plain Sight offers a no-cost professional training with Jermaine Galloway, known as Tall Cop. It is tailored for educators, social workers, first responders, and others who support youth, and centers on spotting current alcohol, vaping, and drug trends affecting young people while sharing practical strategies. Three sessions are scheduled to provide flexibility. A Positive Approach to Teen Health (PATH) will also present a session for parents.

Life Drawing Drop-In

With Ivan Chermel facilitating, this drop-in group at Chesterton Art Center offers time with a figure model, who may be clothed or nude. Artists work on their own, using the session to continue developing figure drawing skills.

SORCE (Symposium on Research and Creative Expression) 2026

SORCE 2026 is Valparaiso University’s annual university-wide Symposium on Research and Creative Expression, highlighting student scholarship and creativity developed throughout the year. Students from a range of disciplines share their work with the Valpo community and guests through presentations of projects, findings, ideas, and original creative pieces. Classes pause for the day so students can participate, present their efforts, and support classmates. Community members, families, and local employers are welcome, offering a chance to see the work unfolding at Valpo and to connect with emerging researchers, creators, and professionals.

Culinary Arts

This class combines recovery and nutrition with cooking techniques. Participants will explore the significant role that ingredients and nutrition play in sustaining recovery. Specific ingredients and their positive effects on the body will be highlighted. Participants will get to take home the recipes. Chef Kenny will lead a hands-on cooking experience, followed by everyone enjoying the prepared meal together. There is a limit of 14 participants for each class. For safety reasons, please wear closed-toe shoes and tops with sleeves while in the kitchen.

Hosted by Valparaiso Tri Kappa Iota at Journeyman Distillery in Valparaiso, this bingo celebration pairs lively games with food, raffles, and community spirit. There are 11 rounds of bingo with cash prizes for each winner. A final 12th game features a $500 coverall, and a separate raffle offers another $500. Level 1 Usui Reiki Workshop FRIDAY and SUNDAY

Spring HypnoBirthing Series

This five week HypnoBirthing series helps expectant parents cultivate calm, confidence, and a sense of empowerment for birth. Participants learn practical skills to work with the body, ease discomfort, and release fear. Topics include effective breathing, relaxation and visualization, creating a birth plan that reflects personal preferences, comfort strategies for labor and birth, and clear ways partners can offer support. The course also explores how HypnoBirthing techniques may lessen fear, tension, and pain. Partners are welcome but not required, and class size is limited to keep the experience personal and interactive.

Harlem Wizards Game (Valparaiso, IN)

Get ready for a high-energy basketball showcase as the Harlem Wizards bring flashy ball handling, trick shots, and gravity-defying plays to Valparaiso High School. This family-friendly night features plenty of on-court flair and fun. Tickets are available in advance, with Student admission at $12 and General Admission at $15. Reserved seating is $22 for students and adults, and Courtside Plus tickets are $40 for students and adults.

Scorpio Full Moon Sound Journey at PIeces of Jayde

Honor the energy of the Scorpio full moon with a candlelit sound immersion that blends gentle breathwork, calming meditation, resonant tones from singing crystal bowls and other instruments, and a guided visualization. The experience is intended to help you let go of what is ready to be released and to support personal insight, with unhurried time for journaling and quiet reflection. The space is trauma aware, slow, and intentional. You have choice in how you participate, and it is welcome to rest, adjust, or step away whenever needed. No experience is required. Please bring a yoga mat, a blanket, water, and anything that helps you feel comfortable, and consider bringing a journal for integration.

The Big Cup Scramble

The Big Cup Scramble at Creekside Golf Course and Training Center features a two-player scramble with no handicaps and a shotgun start. Both players tee off, the team selects the better shot, and play continues from that spot until the hole is completed. Scoring is low gross, with awards for first, second, and third place teams. Entry includes green fees, cart, lunch, on-course games, prizes, and trophies. Tee assignments are set by age and gender: players under 14 and ladies use the red tees, ages 14 to 18 use the white tees, ages 19 to 59 use the blue tees, and ages 60 and older use the white tees. On-course challenges include Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and Longest Putt. Participants may pay for themselves or for a twosome.

Outdoor Adult Training: Fire, Cooking, and Rustic

This is a blended learning course, so the online components of Outdoor Cooking and Rustic Camping must be completed before attending. This session offers practical experience to complement the online course, focusing on hands-on learning. You will learn about edible fires and firewood, including how to teach about them, and how to start fires for stick cooking. Youll also get tips for engaging campers and improving their outdoor skills, as well as how to set up and use camp stoves. Learn useful camping knots, how to cook over an open fire and with charcoal, and proper sanitation practices for washing dishes in the wilderness. This session is for adult troop volunteers preparing to lead camping trips, going beyond basic cooking skills.

Just for Jessica Benefit Car Show

A community car show at the Porter County Expo Center raises funds for Jessica Halliar, a para-professional at Ben Franklin Middle School who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma. She is deeply connected to her students and community, values her faith and family, and has a passion for cars. All proceeds will go directly to Jessica to help with medical expenses. Vehicle registration is $20, general admission is $5, and children under 12 are free. Trophies will be awarded for Jessica’s Choice, People’s Choice, and Best in Show, along with Top 50 Bikes and Top 50 Cars and Trucks. Heartsaver CPR Certification

Learn to act with confidence in emergencies through the American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course. Built on the latest CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care guidance, this training covers first aid fundamentals, how to handle medical, injury, and environmental emergencies, ways to prevent illness and injury, adult CPR, AED operation, and how to respond to opioid-related life-threatening situations. Optional modules are available for child CPR with AED and for infant CPR. The course is intended for people with little or no medical background who need a completion card for work or regulatory needs such as OSHA, as well as anyone who wants to be prepared to help. Common participants include good Samaritans, lifeguards, babysitters, and staff at businesses or restaurants with AEDs on site. Those who successfully finish the class receive a course completion card that remains valid for two years.
