    Bellamy Brothers

Lafayette · Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N 6th St

Howard and David first found momentum on the pop charts in the 1970s, then shifted into country success in the 1980s, helping open the door for later duos like Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry and Big & Rich, with the Judds coming before them. Their story starts in Florida, where their first official show took place in 1968 at the Rattlesnake Roundup in San Antonio alongside their father. They refined their craft in clubs across the South that served Black audiences and provided backup vocals for Percy Sledge, Eddie Floyd and Little Anthony & The Imperials. Soon after, they headed to Atlanta, embracing a rock and country blend as the Allman Brothers were ascending.
