A is for Aeroplane debuts as GAM’s inaugural interactive art exhibit, inviting military and aviation history enthusiasts to explore favorite aircraft from the air park in a creative new way. Fourteen planes are transformed into oversized line-art posters arranged along the museum’s hallway, and visitors can add color using materials provided on site. Young children can take part with posters placed at a height suited for toddlers. Now in its 41st year, this long-running bicycle ride rolls out from Kokomo with route options of roughly 40, 60, 80, and 100 miles, including a full century. The courses are planned to capture the most favorable road conditions of the year and follow gentle Indiana terrain on quiet roads and along wooded creeks, moving past farmland and through small towns across Howard County, Indiana. Every rider receives a drink ticket and custom event swag. Presented by the Break-away Bicycle Club, the event features SAG stops with food and homemade treats, roaming support crews that include mechanical assistance, and detailed route maps. Maps will be provided and available for download shortly beforehand, and routes may be updated up to event day with any changes clearly reflected in the files. Registration follows tiered pricing, with a higher rate on the day of the ride. Mail-in entry is only offered early, and online registration is required in the final pre-event window. Airborne Art is a juried exhibition at Grissom Air Museum that brings together creativity, aviation, and military heritage. High school juniors and seniors from public, private, parochial, and home schools in Miami, Wabash, Fulton, Cass, Howard, and Grant counties are invited to submit an original 2D work. The theme highlights warplane nose art, encouraging artists to design their own piece using historic examples for inspiration and connecting to a planned future exhibit on the subject. Accepted media include acrylic, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink, pencil, and digital art, and entries created with AI or copied from existing nose art will be disqualified. Artwork must be delivered to the museum with a completed submission form. Forms are available on the museum’s website, can be picked up during operating hours, or requested by email. Submitted pieces will be on public display at the museum, with a reception for artists, their supporters, and visitors. A panel of judges will select the winners, with awards for the top three juniors, the top three seniors, and a Best in Show. Winning works will remain on view at the museum after the show.
