Cowtown Christmas Light Showdown and Cruise for Food brings the community together through a partnership between Abilene Parks and Recreation, Amanda's Bakery and Bistro, the Abilene Convention and Business Bureau, and Driving Dickinson County to create a festive Christmas atmosphere. The Cruise for Food supports local needs, with all donations staying in the community and shared between the Food Pantry and Neighbor to Neighbor to assist families during the holiday season and beyond. Residents within the Abilene city limits can enter their holiday light displays. Entry is free and limited to 20 residences, and participants should have their lights on and be ready for judging. Community members can drop off a food item at Abilene Food and Clothing to receive a ballot that includes a map of the entries. After touring the displays, select a favorite and return the completed ballot to Amanda's Bakery and Bistro. Winners are announced at Little Ike Park.
