This returning pop-up clinic offers low-stress nail trims for dogs. No appointment is needed and walk-ins are welcome. Each pup receives a complimentary treat as a reward. If your dog has had a difficult experience in the past or you are unsure how they will handle a trim, the service focuses on a calm, appropriate approach, and payment is only required if the trim is successfully completed. Organizers plan to offer these clinics on the second Saturday of each month, with updates shared if the schedule changes.

Explore Prairie State Park on a guided bison saunter that begins at the Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center. A saunter is a leisurely stroll that favors unhurried observation, making it a fitting way to take in the prairie. The park preserves nearly 4,000 acres of tallgrass, a landscape that once covered about a third of Missouri and now remains in less than one half of one percent. With fall on the way, expect cooler temperatures, bison starting to grow their winter coats, and wildflowers blooming and preparing to set seed, so the prairie is especially active. Plan for at least two miles over uneven terrain. Because the herd’s location is determined the morning of the outing, bring water, snacks, a hat, insect repellent, sunscreen, and wear sturdy footwear. Weather can change quickly, so be ready for conditions, and consider binoculars for viewing bison and other wildlife. For the protection of this rare ecosystem and for visitor safety, pets are not allowed on park trails except on the Path of the Earth People and Path of the Sky People. Pets may be taken to the campground and picnic area when following Missouri State Parks pet rules, and service animals that assist people with disabilities may accompany their handlers. Now in its sixth year, the Boom Town showcase for cars, trucks, and bikes takes place at The W Club in King Jack Park in Webb City, Missouri. The event has been moved to align with the return of Webb City’s Mining Days Festival, adding live music, food trucks, and a variety of vendor and craft booths for a family friendly experience. Charlie 22 will be on site with a giveaway of a restored Ford Bronco. Now in its third year, this community BioBlitz at Crawford State Park focuses on pollinators and other local wildlife while contributing useful species data for regional science and conservation. Anyone interested can participate by photographing plants, birds, insects, butterflies, bees, beetles, and more, then uploading observations to iNaturalist through the app or website. To be counted toward NRPA's Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz team, submissions must be recorded within the park. Presenters and conservation educators are expected to be set up at the CCC Memorial so attendees can watch presentations, ask questions, and learn practical ways to support a stronger corner of SEK. Confirmed participants include biologist and beekeeper Dan Mosier II, Martin Logan with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Jaryn, SE district forester with KFS, Aaron, SE district fire management officer with KFS, representatives from K-State Extension including Adaven and Cheri, and Peyton from Peyton's Potting Shed, with more to come.
