Safe Streets Wichita is coordinating a statewide day of free naloxone distribution by partnering with groups across Kansas. The effort centers on increasing access to naloxone and sharing overdose prevention resources in local communities. Local organizations, coalitions, community groups, youth groups, and community members are invited to collaborate in support of Save a Life Day. This year, Safe Streets Wichita will take a supportive role by offering training, event coordination, resource assistance, kit assembly, and community connections so partners can bring naloxone and education directly to their communities. Organizations interested in taking part can indicate their interest by selecting Save a Life Day 2026 on the host form. The shared goal is to prevent overdoses and save lives across Kansas.

Explore the beauty of Kansas flora on a guided wildflower walk through Chisholm Creek Park. This relaxed, one-mile outing highlights what is currently in bloom and points out noteworthy plants and trees along the trail. Participants can ask questions throughout, making it a friendly way to learn about native species while enjoying time outside. The walk is free and does not require registration. It is dependent on weather, so bring water and dress for outdoor conditions. A journal is welcome if you would like to take notes.

Kick off the market’s 36th year with an opening day filled with hometown flavor. Meet growers, producers, and artisans offering farm-fresh produce, meats, eggs, honey, baked treats, jams and jellies, barbecue sauces, salsas, freshly cut flowers, and one-of-a-kind handmade goods. Enjoy live music and an array of food trucks, and look for a visit from local favorite Troubles the Clown. It is the largest grower-owned farmers market in Kansas, creating a lively setting to explore local tastes and craftsmanship.

Cherry Bomb’s third anniversary will be marked with an outdoor roller skating night at Hap McLean Park in Park City. This free, all ages gathering welcomes skaters of every level. Plan to bring personal skates because rentals are not provided, and anyone without skates can visit Cherry Bomb beforehand to get outfitted. The rink features smooth concrete, so indoor wheels will work. If you want to avoid scuffing a newer indoor setup, consider an older indoor set or wheels designed for outdoor use. Scooters and skateboards are not permitted on the rink during the event, but the adjacent skate park offers space for other wheels. A DJ and a food truck will be on site to keep the energy high.

The Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum offers free public admission on Sundays, made possible since 2022 through a gift from the Ruth Spooner Stone Charitable Trust, INTRUST Bank. Housed in Downtown Wichita within the city’s original 1890 City Hall, the museum features numerous exhibits and thousands of artifacts that illuminate local history. The Museum Store carries books along with locally themed souvenirs and gifts. Regular admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children, with free entry every Sunday, and members always receive free admission. The museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
