    Twilight at Longue Vue

New Orleans · Longue Vue House and Gardens, 7 Bamboo Rd

Twilight at Longue Vue continues through the fall with weekly Wednesday gatherings in the gardens. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy live music surrounded by nature. This week features Nat & Kat Cajun String Band, the duo of Natalie Naquin on cello and Katy Murphy on guitar. Drawing on early roots Louisiana Cajun and Creole music, they offer stripped-down, sonically rich arrangements of classic waltzes, two-steps, reels, and ballads for cello, guitar, and vocals. Their evocative interpretations call to mind moonlit bayous, resonant cypress swamps, and dreamy live oak groves. Presented with support from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.

    Garden District Tours

New Orleans · The Chicory House , 2727 Prytania St

Discover the Garden District on a two hour walking tour hosted by Friends of the Cabildo. The outing departs from outside the Chicory House and explores the neighborhood’s story, from the affluent Americans who built it to the Greek Revival and Italianate architecture that defines its streets. City licensed volunteer guides share how notable figures, political shifts, and the local landscape influenced the district’s growth, offering context beyond the French Quarter and a window into mid nineteenth century American life in New Orleans. Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students and Friends of the Cabildo members. Tours run rain or shine, and refunds are not available. Sidewalks can be uneven, so comfortable walking shoes are encouraged. Bring water or another form of hydration. The meeting point is one block from the St. Charles Streetcar line at Washington Avenue.

    Adoption Event

Covington · PetSmart, 45 Park Place Dr

Rescue dogs and puppies will be on site at PetSmart in Covington. Expect to meet roughly 15 to 20 pups, with adoptions open to those who have a pre-approved application. Since reviews typically take about three days, submitting in advance is a good idea. If a lifelong commitment is not possible right now, fostering is another option at no cost, and the rescue provides supplies and veterinary care. Fosters are asked to drop off their dogs for the event and pick them up afterward if they are not adopted.
